September 2022 Sketch Challenge | Creative Team

Hello Friends!

It's Sheree here with you today and it's time for our September Sketch Challenge...hooray!  This month I've created a circular design with a photo positioned in the centre and lots of pretty florals at the top.  Let's take a look...

Here's the layout I came up with...

I decided to use the sketch to create a page for my 2022 December album. It’s sized to 7” x 8.25” which is roughly the size of a page protector in my 6 x 8” album. Once I know where it will be going in the album I’ll be able to punch holes down either the left or right side of the page to slip it inside.

To make the most of the space on the page I decided to skip the border from the sketch and just have a white background. I used a bowl from my kitchen to lightly trace a circle on the page with a pencil, then used my sewing machine to stitch around it multiple times to create the base of the design. I carefully rubbed out any visible pencil line with an eraser once I’d finished the stitching.

For the florals at the top of the page I’ve used the gorgeous Ivy Printable PDF which is available in the FJ shop. I printed the PDF three times onto white cardstock at 200% to enlarge the triple floral element. This made the flowers the perfect size for the top of my stitched circle. I cut out the elements three times so I could layer parts of it together to create some lovely dimension.

For the bottom of the circle, I printed the PDF again at the original size and cut out the same triple floral element then added a chipboard number.

I used the You Day Metal Die Set to cut some white stars to sprinkle around edge of the stitched circle. My photo was attached to the middle with twine, then I’ve added a die cut heart and some typed journaling to finish the layout.

My favourite part of these sketch challenges is seeing what everyone else comes up with and the creative team never disappoint!  I'm so excited to share with you what they've done with this sketch!

We'll start with a beautiful layout by Karlla Dauer...

Here's Karlla to tell us about her page...

"What I love to do most when I'm having fun with sketching is looking at it from another angle. For this challenge, I decided to rotate it. I loved how the overlapping flowers at the bottom of the layout made the work really stand out."

Elena Martinelli also has a gorgeous layout to share inspired by the sketch...

"Another month, another challenge and another amazing sketch made by Sheree!

I love the Ivy Collection and Christmas is my favourite time of the year!  To create a big circle I used a green ribbon and sewing machine. Later, I superimposed many types of papers to give it more dynamism.

Finally, in the lower part of circle I made a big title with the Ivy Gold Foil Alphabet.

I hope my version inspires you and I can't wait to see your beautiful works!

Next we have Valeska Guimaraes with her fabulous version of the sketch...

"Hello FJ friends,

Valeska here with you today sharing my version of this stunning sketch made by my talented friend, Sheree!

I used the beautiful Ivy collection that just arrived, with many amazing elements! I was inspired by the circles sewn in the center of the sketch and the photo hanged by the flower arrangement, it’s so beautiful! I also decided to put my photo in a circular shape with another hollow circle around with the Ivy chipboard frame circle. I hung the photo with a golden ribbon on the top of my white paper.

I used the gingham paper from the Ivy 12x12 paper pack on my background and a white cardstock on the top cut to 11x11 inches. I cut a circle on the middle and I glued my white paper. Then I placed my photo on the frame on the middle of the inner circle and I fussy cut some flowers from the floral paper and glued them under the photo with Ivy die cut shapes.

I used the Ivy chipboard word confetti and a Santa chipboard flair. The phrase "Oh What Fun!" is perfect to be stamped around the chipboard flair, so I did it!

I used the Ivy Gold Foil Puffy Word Sticker as a title "Tis The Season" under the flowers and some of the golden foil dots too.

I love how it came together!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Valeska x"

Our last share today is from Eva Pizarro.  Let's take a look at her adorable layout...

"This month's sketch was really fun to make. I started by sewing a circle on my white cardstock and then added flowers on top. The flowers are from the digital kit so you can print more if you need to. I also added a yellow background because I felt the page had too much white space. The center of the page is my son's photo when he was 10 days old. Super tiny and cute!"
