"Today" Layout | Carol Chastain
Hey Y'all, hope your week is off to a good start. I absolutely have loved working with the Tuesday kit this month and I am always amazed at how many patterns are available in the kits. This appeals to me especially since I have boys and a girl to document. I started this page off with a blank 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white cardstock and started building. My son was 3 years old when this photo was taken, so I decided to cut out that "3" from the cut apart patterned paper. I distressed the edges a bit with my scissors and inked it in black.
Speaking of ink...I love the stamp set this month and was able to use it in multiple places. Since I did my journaling on the typewriter, I wanted my stamped image to look similar with the "all day every day" check mark and tiny "today" stamp-so I just did the "second generation" application.... Stamp once with fresh ink on scrap paper then onto my layout for that "typed" look.
I had a lot of fun mixing the black and white washi with the diagonal striped paper and even more fun adding the little deer. Okay, I totally get that it has nothing to do with this layout (unless I use the excuse that a deer is an animal and there are geese in the photo) - but I thought that the blue of the deer tied the aqua paper with my son's blue shirt and the gold dipped legs on the deer sort of mimick the orange webbed feet of the geese... There are my excuses/reasons. Hope this inspires you to mix stripes and use fun ephemera pieces! Aren't those black puffy word stickers just the best? Hope y'all have a great rest of your week and get some time to use these lovely kits!
