"Growth Spurt" Layout | Carol Chastain

Okay y'all. This layout might not be one of my favorites ever- but I'm sharing it with you today because of the meaning behind it. All kinds of sentimental things going on and I felt like this was a safe space to share with y'all some tips and tricks for getting the story told.

Let's talk story: My Simon boy has been having quite the growing spell lately. Between waking up late in the night with leg pains and his jeans fitting one day and an inch too short the next- I have recently had to find him bigger sizes and I even made him a pair of cut off jean shorts for play since they were getting too short. So There you can see I used the fabric remnants from his pants on the page and "patched" them with pretty papers.

Another bit I included were some dried flowers that Simon had picked for me a month ago. I used regular ol' tacky glue for the petals and some of my favorite washi to tape down the one with the stem. Maybe this will all fall apart in the years to come- but I like to think it is a scrapbook -turned nature journal- turned fabric scrap bin. :)

I used more of that washi to "secure" down those little wooden bits from this add-on.

If anything, hopefully this gives you some tips for including some of the keepsakes in your life to pair with a story. Have you ever included clothing in a traditional layout? I'm guessing this could pass for mixed media right? Hope y'all have a great weekend and make lots of great things with your kits!

So creative, such a beautiful keepsake – tearing up a little…
I photocopied a maternity shirt & distressed the torn paper for a layout as I wanted to keep it.
This is tons better :D
