At long last it is here! The most magical time of the year and the most beautiful Noel kit! Finally it's time to dig in and put together some Christmas memories!
Today I have for you some Christmas album inspiration. I have been documenting our December days for 5 years now and it is my most favourite type of album. For the past four years my albums were 5x6 inches big but this year I longed for a change. At first I was playing with the idea of using the utterly gorgeous 6x8 album with the stars but the size seems to be just a little too much for me - I was a little apprehensive that I wouldn't be able to fill it all in. And also, I do pocket scrapbooking all year round so a cute mini album is a good change for me.
After a few days of thinking I decided to go for the 4x8 size. Partly because I wanted to use as much material from the kit as possible. Like the plastic dividers, paper dividers, maybe even a few pockets. The size is very close to a TN size and I was thinking about doing one as well (there are some pretty Noel TNs in the shop!) but in the end I went for key rings. Those are the best when you want to skip days or just add anything.
Now for the cover of the album. The other day I found a little treasure -a forgotten box full of little beads from my previous hobby of FIMO. Straight away I knew I wanted to make a shaker. The cover is made from cardboard which is thick and it makes it easy to be filled with beads. I went for white, transparent and red beads and later realised I forgot to use the beautiful holly leaves and sequins from the Noel kit! I tried to keep the cover as simple as possible because I am planning to use the amazing red ribbon from the Noel packaging once the album gets really big.
Oh, those ribbons! So many different textures and colours! I used a few to decorate the rings and the Felicity Jane star, of course, it would be sacrilige if that were to be missed out!
As for the writing. Once a year I get out my old old typerwriter and put a few sentences together about our Christmas. I like to start my mini with a vellum. This one is drawn on using white marker and decorated with one of those cute flair buttons. Hello december!
Counting down. One thing I was really excited about to add into this 4x8 inch album were large photos. I went for a matte finish and it is so worth it! No more finger prints!
The first story is about our advent calender that the kids love so much. I made a little flap using a piece of vellum and a journaling card.
I had quite few pictures of the kids decorating the advent wreath. They were tricky to fit on one page so I decided to create an envelope. To make it all a bit different I glued the pictures to a ribbon (the photos are from both sides, so altogether there are 6 photos on the string) and the ribbon is attached to the envelope. You just pull it all out at once! I also added a little tag using the Metal Die Cut Set to tell the story.
Vellum is good, vellum with gold is the best! I die cut a star to make a little window for the first candle.
Day no. 2 and gingerbread baking. Pure joy (and mess). I don't know how the kids do it but they usually manage to wear something that matches the colours of the kit. So I was not afraid to use a very colourful paper on the other side. I like this combination of a no-photo page that is embellished and white paper with tons of photos.
This time of year is just so incredible! I can't wait to get more days documented! Also, I am very excited to see what you all create with the Noel kit. Have fun and enjoy this special month!
