"Part Of Her Story" Layout | Banning Lane

The stories are my favorite part of this amazing hobby of mine. Most of my stories are fun and happy and full of love for my family. Because my little girl was born with a pretty serious heart defect, some of my stories are scary and hard.

My little London has come a long way in her almost four short years of life. I treasure the layouts where I have actually sat down and documented the overwhelmingly hard days where it really did feel like life was too much for me to handle. Our days are much different now, and looking at these older layouts makes me so grateful for our "boring" everyday life today.

Once a year London goes in for a check up with her Cardiologist. It always surprises me how anxious and nervous I get in the days that lead up to those appointments. Today I am sharing the layout I made about this years visit.

Often times when I am telling harder stories, I keep my layouts more simple because I mostly want to focus on the words and photos.

I also always start with the story. Because I usually have a lot to say, I almost always type it so I can fit more words in less space. For this layout I decided to split my journaling in two separate columns.

I definitely wanted to embellish my layout, but kept it super simple to keep the focus on the story. I layered a couple of stars that I cut out on top of some bundled up gold thread that came in a previous kit. I also added some tone on tone enamel dots to the star. I like how it adds texture without making it too busy. To bring in a little bit more gold I also decided to use one of the the kits super versatile phrase stickers.

I can't even tell you how much I love working with these kits, especially when I am telling a more difficult story. I didn't have to worry about what product to use, or if my page would look good. I could just focus on getting my words and photo on the page.

Your layout is just lovely – I always love to see scrapbook pages with lots of words! It must be very difficult to see your sweet little daughter getting tested during these doctor visits – she looks so tiny in that photo. I hope it helps you to get the story told on your pages and I’m sure your daughter will be very happy to read these treasures when she’s older.
