8.5x11 Layout | Squishy Babes | Lindsey Lanning

Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! Today I’m sharing an 8.5x11 scrapbooking layout using mostly elements from the Jenny Kit. Are you ready for some squishy baby faces!? Checkout the process video for this layout at the end of this post.

One of these days I’ll play around with some creative bases for my layouts but for this one I’m sticking with what I know. I cut down some white cardstock and matted it onto some mint colored paper from the Jenny | Paper Pack. I also went ahead and matted the photo of my boys onto some of the Jenny | 6x6 Papers.

I love when Felicity Jane offers the patterned papers in a 6x6 format because they are easy to reach for and usually the pattern is smaller scale which is great for die cutting and smaller projects. I used a nested circle die to cut out several different circle sizes out of the 6x6 papers and then added some pen details to them.

Alphabet dies can be an investment but, like alpha stamps, they are a staple for me because I can create my own faux chipboard alphas and alpha stickers. For the title of this layout, I used the Reagan Alphabet | Metal Dies and layered up the patterned letters onto three layers of black cardstock to get a faux chipboard look.

I mixed the die cut letters with some Megan | Puffy Alphas to create the “squishy BABES” title. Who doesn’t love some squishy baby cheeks!?

Since I don’t have a date stamp that goes back to 2008 (one of the problems with taking to long to document photos LOL), I used a mix of word and alpha stickers layered onto some labels to document the date of the photo.

As some final touches, I added some chipboard pieces, squiggle stamping, and ink splatters. The final layering details always feel like jewelry for me...it’s a careful balance of not too much and not too little.

That’s it! I hope this layout inspires you to pull out those patterned papers and use them in some different ways. Be sure to check out the full process video below! The Jenny Kit is sold out but you can still grab most of the collection a la cart.

Until next time!
<3 Lindsey
