Christmas Memories | Banning Lane

Christmas Memories | Banning Lane

When I received my "cozy" kit plus "no peeking" add on I was so inspired to create, but everything was just so beautiful I almost didn't want to touch it. I must have looked through the paper and organized all the embellishments a million times before I actually started creating with it.

Christmas to me is truly "the most wonderful time of the year," it always has been. Growing up my parents did a good job of making the holiday season fun and full of memories. I have always wanted to record some of those stories. When I saw the gorgeous gold album, I knew it was time to tackle that project.

I know creating this album will take time, and I am in no hurry to finish it. My goal is to be pretty casual about it and create the layouts as the stories come to me. I am starting my album out with a favorite Christmas memory and that is the one I am sharing with you today.

The story that I am documenting is how fun Christmas Eve was, and some of the specific things I remember about that magical night. The photo that I decided to use was one that was actually taken on Christmas day. This album is more about the words and stories than it is about the photos. I'll admit that not having photos to go with the memories was a bit of a road block for me. I had to give myself permission to just tell the stories, and sneak in the few photo's I have when I can.

I kept the embellishments pretty simple, which is very much my style. Most of the things that I used came from the cut apart sheet. I don't know if I will ever get tired of tags and labels. Speaking of labels, I left the red label blank because I still need to figure out the year the photo was taken.

When I started to type up my journaling I could see that using a 6X8 page was going to be a bit to much so I decided to make a "skinny" page instead. I backed my journaling with some paper from the kit. I absolutely LOVE the look of those diagonal stripes. I added the glittered foam star as a final touch and then I called it done.

I am super excited that I have finally started this project. I can't wait to see a bunch of Christmas memories all in one album!
