Hey Y'all, today is Friday which means I will be sharing some Tips and Tricks for using your kits! This Layout came about from this photo of my daughter...when it was printed, the blanket that my daughter was laying on sort of clashed with her outfit and so I decided to cut around her. I used to do this a lot circa 2004, (anyone else?).
Tip #1: Think outside of the box when using embellishments. I love how it looks like her little hand is holding something, and I was immediately inspired to use the little vellum hearts as balloons. The strings are leftovers from past kits and packaging in my stash. Sometimes it's just good departure from the norm to add whimsy to my pages, I love how the little bow on her head adds a 3D element to the photo.
Tip # 2: Don't be afraid to alter the embellishments. In this case I wanted the "follow your" arrow embellishment to go with all of the white and I just added a touch of paint to make that happen. I adhered it with hot glue for extra dimension and balance out that big bow!
Now for my tricks ;), I wanted there to be a little motivational love letter to go with the sentiments on the layout and that bag was the perfect thing to tuck it into. I love how the little stamp "go for it!" fits perfectly on the tab. I added that "baby" sticker from the December kit.
I wanted the letters of her name to have a staggered look and just trimmed off the excess. All of these little pieces add weight and texture to the card. The back of the tabbed card is for journaling/my letter- this way the layout didn't become so busy.
Hope this inspires you to think outside of your normal creative process and make something wonderful.
