Hello everyone!
How are you going with your December documenting so far? I'm really enjoying seeing all the inspiration out there right now. There are so many fantastic ideas! Today I'm sharing what I've done with the new FJ Advent Calendar Cut File.
When I saw this fun new cut file hit the Felicity Jane store I couldn't wait to play! I thought it would be a great addition to my December album.
Once I had the file downloaded, I opened it up in my Silhouette program and reduced the whole design in size until the house shape was 8 inches high so that it would fit into my album. I cut the house background from white cardstock, the numbers and the wreath accent in gold glitter vinyl, the wreath in solid green paper from the Noel Kit and the pockets from a diagonal striped paper from an older Felicity Jane Kit. I also chose a striped paper from the Kate Kit and cut an additional house page for the back of the advent calendar.
I used one of the awesome new Essentials Acetate Pop-ins in between the two house pages so that I would be able to put them onto the rings in my album. These pop-ins are so handy for adding things to your album that you don't want to punch holes into! I used a page protector as a guide to work out where to position it before adhering it into place. I then used my sewing machine to stitch a border around the edge of the house page.
I adhered the wreath, some messy thread and the gold wreath accent to the top of the page with liquid glue, then cut my own bow from the gold glitter vinyl (with the backing still on) and adhered it to the top of the wreath.
I then scored and folded all the pockets, adhered the gold glitter numbers to the front of each and adhered them into place on the page. My t-square ruler was so handy for this job!
For the little cards inside the pockets, I checked the cut file to see what size the cards needed to be, then used Photoshop to make my own with little sentences on each. I came up with something for each day such as "Take a Family Photo", "Donate to your favourite charity", or "Put up the Christmas lights", printed them and cut them out. I then backed each one with glitter vinyl so that you would see the little bit of gold peeking through at the top of each pocket.
I love how cute the little pockets are in this reduced size! This is a fun, interactive page that we can look at each day to see what the cards say.
On the back of the advent page, I chose to do a simple circular design in the centre of the page.
I cut a 3 3/4 inch circle from gold foil vinyl that I had adhered onto white cardstock. I then cut a 3 1/2 inch circle from white cardstock and the solid green paper from the Noel Kit. I layered the white circle onto the gold, then cut a section of the green circle to go onto the bottom on the white circle. I also handstitched around the edge of the circle to add a little texture.
I used the house and Christmas tree die cuts from the Noel kit to create a little scene inside the circle and added a gold bow from my stash to the top.
The "Holidays" die cut was adhered underneath with foam dots, then I typed out the rest of the title with my typewriter, cut it out and added it in too.
To finish it off I added a gold confetti star to the top of the Christmas tree. I love how this page turned out!
These pages are such a fun addition to my December album! I hope you'll give the advent calendar a try too!

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today!
