Hi FJ friends!
Ulli here with you today and I can show you my second project with the wonderful new Aspen collection. I love this collection so much! Especially the colors with all the light pinks, the dark blue and the fresh greens. When I went though the cute pinkish papers and the pinkish library and journaling cards I had the idea to make an A5 Notebook about my new hobby: ballet. I’ve started last September with over 40 and it was the best decision in 2021! I have so much fun while in my ballet classes and also make some ballet exercises and some stretching at home. This me time is so important to me and because of this I want to keep all my memories, goals and thoughts in a journal. This is my complete spread with a pocket for a hidden journaling and a cute string element:
Now I want to describe to you how this spread came together. First I cut two pieces of FJ Essentials White Cardstock to 5 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches. I am the type of scrapbooker who glues the finished pages later into the notebooks. I cut the Aspen Pin Stripes & Hearts paper to 3/4 inch and glued it on the top of my pages. For the paper strip on the bottom I’ve used the blue polka dot paper stripe from one of the Aspen papers. I had the idea of hidden journaling in a pocket and so I made a pinkish pocket with the gorgeous Aspen Gingham & Stars paper. I cut it to 4 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches. Then I’ve used my folding tool and folded the paper on the bottom and on the right and the left side at 1/2 inch. I also cut the paper on the edges a little bit to avoid thick spots where the paper was doubled over. On the top of the pocket I’ve punched a semi circle with a circle punch of 1 1/2 inches. The pocket has a great size now to insert 1-3 journaling cards.
I added my picture with the cute triangle shaped house die cut from the Aspen collection on the right page. I’ve decorated it with some of the super cute Aspen die cuts and the wonderful Aspen sticker "Love". Then I also added the green label die cut on the top over the paper strip and added an Emily word sticker "Routine" and one of the pink chipboard heart stickers on it.
I used the amazing Aspen Stamp Set and stamped the date when the picture was taken on the circle sticker with the green border and added it on my pinkish pocket. I glued this pocket on the left page. I wrote my journaling by hand on the pinkish Aspen library card and fixed the "Chapter 2" journaling card with a white eyelet on the top of the library card so it is possible to move it to the side to read the journaling.
I added the title on the top of the left page. I glued the green "&" of the Aspen Die Cuts and the word "Plié" with the black Aspen Puffy Alphabet Stickers on the pink paper strip on the top. Then I punched two holes near of the paper stripes (top and bottom) and also set two white eyelets there. I used white yarn to make a string frame eyelet to eyelet and then I fixed the endings of the yarn on the back with some Washi tape. I added the pink label die cut from the Aspen collection with an Emily Word Sticker in the middle and used some of the cute Aspen stickers from the Sticker Sheet to decorate the string with more elements. I especially love the blue house and the cute branches from the sticker sheet.
I finished off my spread with a floral die cut beside my title and some of the black tiny heart puffy stickers of the Aspen Puffy Alphabet.
I hope you like my A5 Notebook inspiration with the Aspen collection and I could inspire you to make your own little pocket from pretty FJ patterned papers for your projects or to document your me time in a A5 Notebook.
Have a wonderful week!
xx Ulli
