Hey everyone!
Mandy here today to share another project featuring the beautiful Shay collection! I've also incorporated embellishments from five previous kits on this layout as well! I love how versatile the FJ kits are, and how well they coordinate from month to month! I'm totally in love with the gorgeous shades of pink and the pretty florals in the Shay kit, and it was perfect for scrapbooking this beautiful photo of my eldest daughter Abigail. The photo was taken on her 15th birthday recently, however I didn't want to make this a traditional birthday themed layout. I decided instead to document how proud I am of her and how well I think she's adjusted to lots of changes over the past year. While it's fun to create layouts documenting events such as birthdays, I think it's also important to create layouts like this that let someone in your life know how awesome you think they are!
I started my layout off with a sheet of the Essentials white cardstock for my background, and I added some machine stitching around the edge of the page for some additional texture. Next I layered multiple sheets of patterned paper from the Shay collection on the background to create a base for my photos and embellishments to sit on. This is a great way of featuring lots of those gorgeous colours and patterns from the kit on your layout! I also matted my photo with the lovely yellow floral paper, and I adhered it with craft foam to help it to really stand out from the background.
To the left of the photo I created a pretty cluster of embellishments. The focal point of the cluster is a circular die cut piece that says 'without change there would be no butterflies'. This die cut was leftover from my Brie kit, and I was so glad to use it on this page as it tied in perfectly with my journaling. I also added a couple of the floral die cuts from the Shay collection, a butterfly from the Megan vellum shapes pack, and a Denise charm. I love how pretty all of these embellishments look together, and I think they coordinate perfectly with one another even though they're all from different kits!
For my title, I combined a die cut word from the Megan kit, with a Shay puffy word sticker. You can also see that I tucked a tag under the bottom edge of the photo, which was from the Megan die cut pack as well.
I wanted to add quite a bit of journaling to the layout and I thought that the best way to do that would be to use my typewriter and type it onto the back of one of the 3x4 journaling cards. The reverse sides of the cards have either a grey grid or a dot grid, which makes them really versatile! I tucked the card under the right hand side of the photo, along with another floral die cut. I also used the Shay Tag Builder metal dies to create a tag which I tucked under the top edge of the photo.
I finished the layout off with a sprinkling of little hearts. I used the Elizabeth epoxy stickers, the Denise puffy stickers, and the Lola heart confetti.
