'Beauty' Layout | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have a new layout to share with you today, using the gorgeous new Madison collection! This kit is full of stunning colours, pretty patterns, and of course lots of beautiful embellishments. And I love the message that is tied in with it as well... Just be your awesome self, and have the courage to let go of the expectation that you have to do everything and be everything. It's certainly a refreshing way to start the year! I chose to scrapbook a recent photo of my eldest daughter Abigail, and I love the way that the colours in the kit really complement those in the photo!

I started my layout off with the 'tiny hearts' patterned paper as my background. I chose to leave the branding strip along the bottom of the page, and instead I trimmed a thin strip off the top to make the page 12x12 inches. To add some more interest, I also added the branding strip with the colourful hearts on it along the bottom of the page. Next I started layering together patterned papers to create a photo mat in the middle of the page. I used the 'spots' and 'stripes' patterned papers, and I trimmed them down to 3x4 inches. I also tucked one of the journaling cards from the kit into the layers as well.

I adhered my photo using craft foam, to help it to really pop off the page, and then I continued to tuck more embellishments around it. I used the beautiful floral die cut as well as a tag on the right hand side. This design is all about adding lots of layers and interest to draw the viewer's eye to the photo.

To the left I added another floral cluster, which I fussy cut out of the floral patterned paper, as well as a die cut bow. You can also see that I tucked a couple of the cardstock frames from the Harper collection into the layers. To create a visual triangle, I added one more smaller floral cluster underneath the bottom left hand corner of the photo using die cuts. The three floral clusters positioned around the photo help to direct the viewer's eye.

I added my title on the bottom right hand corner of the photo using the 'beauty' die cut from the kit. It was the perfect title for this layout about my beautiful girl! To finish the layout off, I added some typed journaling at the bottom of the page, and I also added a little bit of stamping around the photo cluster.
