'Beauty' Layout with the Sarah Kit | Mandy Melville

Hi FJ friends!

Mandy here today, and I have a layout to share with you that I created using the beautiful 'Sarah' kit! I can't get enough of that gorgeous blue in this collection, and I wanted to create a layout that featured the blue foliage patterned paper. I had a lovely photo of my eldest daughter Abigail from a couple of years ago that I hadn't yet scrapbooked, and the colours in the photo worked perfectly with this kit! Sometimes it's nice to document photos that aren't so recent, and when I do, it always makes me realise how quickly my kids are growing and changing. And it makes me so thankful for this hobby, because all of those stages that fly by so quickly are documented in my albums!

As I said, I wanted to feature that blue patterned paper on this layout. So I started by trimming down a 4 inch strip of it, and I adhered the strip across the page, towards the top of the layout. To give it some texture, I added some machine stitching across the top and bottom edges it of, and I distressed the edges a little as well. Under the bottom edge of that blue patterned paper, I tucked the yellow scalloped branding strip, which added some pretty detail and provided a nice pop of that gorgeous yellow colour. I also added a strip of the aqua striped patterned paper across the bottom edge of the layout.

Next I added some layers behind my photo using the library cards and journaling cards from the kit. I also tucked a die cut label under the left hand side of the photo. Once I was happy with all of the layers, I adhered the entire photo cluster to the page using foam tape to give it some extra dimension.

I used another 3x4 journaling card to type my journaling onto, and then I tucked it under the right hand side of the photo. On the top right hand corner of the jouraling card I added one of the cute photo corners. For my title I used one of the puffy word stickers, and I love how subtle and pretty it looks with the white on white. I thought the word 'beauty' was perfect for this photo, and tied in nicely with my journaling.

Around the photo I added a couple of the gorgeous floral die cuts from the kit, and I also tucked a tag under the top edge of the photo. I love the way the photo is framed by all of those beautiful embellishments. You can also see that I attached a cute soft pink miniwide paperclip on the top right hand corner of the photo.

I created a little embellishment cluster up in the top right hand corner of the layout, to balance out the photo and embellishments on the left hand side of the page. In this cluster, I included some pretty florals that I fussy cut out of the floral patterned paper, and also a die cut label which I stamped the phrase 'everyday moments' onto using one of the stamps from the Essentials mini stamp set 1.

For some additional texture and interest, I decided to add a couple of tiny tassels that I had left over from my Heidi kit. (These are currently on sale in the shop - link below). To finish the layout off I added a sprinkling of hearts using the Lindsey mini wood heart confetti, a silicone heart, and a few bitty puffy stickers.
