Bible Journaling Process | Set Free | Lindsey LanningMay 06, 2019
Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! Today I’m using products from the Megan Kit to create a Bible journaling entry.
I just started leading a group of women through a Bible study about Sabbath and the importance of creating “Sabbath margins” in our day to day life. One of the topics we covered was that we’ve been set free and should resist becoming slaves to worldly things. I was inspired by the butterflies in this month’s kit to document an entry in my Bible for this first week of study.
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 ESV
First, I smooshed some water soluble crayons onto the page to create a textured background to go behind my spray of butterflies.
I loved the dimensional butterflies from the Brie Kit a few months ago so I decided to recreate something similar using the Megan | Metal Die Set, Megan | 6x6 Paper Pack, and some vellum. It was super simple to cut out the butterfly shapes and then just stitch down the middle of the patterned paper and vellum layer to create a 3D embellishment.
I mixed in some Megan | Die Cut Shapes and some Sarah | Epoxy Stickers for variance. I also stamped some of the smaller butterflies in the areas where the Bible text was so that it wasn’t covered by the paper embellishments.>
For the title, “I’ve been set free”, I used some mint Essentials | Puffy Alphas and the beautiful Megan | Puffy Alphabet Stickers. If you run out of ‘E’s, don’t be afraid to turn a 3 backwards and substitute that!As soon as I saw the paper bows from this month’s collection I knew I wanted to make some of them into paperclips for the top of my Bible pages. I just sandwiched a large paperclip between the bow and a small square of patterned paper. I layered this with a label from the die cuts and some of my favorite grid washi.
I finished this entry by journaling a short prayer and highlighting the verse. This page was pretty easy to put together but I love the impact it has with the bold title and dimensional butterflies!
Be sure to head on over to the shop to grab some goodies from the Megan Collection this month!
Until next time!
