Bible Journaling with a Pocket Prayer | Lindsey Lanning

Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! As we wrap up 2018, I wanted to add a special prayer to my journaling Bible to thank God for all that He has done this last year and a prayer to start out 2019. As you can imagine, this is a little bit more private of an entry so I thought it would be a great opportunity to use the Holly | Vellum Pocket Fronts to create a pocket prayer right in my Bible. Check out my process video below to see how the entry came together!

I’ve been hoarding several pieces from the Holly Kit this month and have been indecisive about whether I wanted to use them in my Bible or December Daily project. I figure since we are nearing the end of the month, this would be a great time to use some of my favorite pieces...like this adorable Holly die cut. The polka dot vellum pocket acted as a simple backdrop to some die cut clustering, washi tape and a heat embossed gold tree.

Since this pocket includes a prayer full of thanks, I grabbed the Amber | Stamp Set to create this “grateful” label as another layering detail on the pocket. I love the bold mix of black, red and white on this page!

I have lots of the different trim pieces left from the Holly Kit so I grabbed some black velvet ribbon to create a bow on the pocket and some of the gold ribbon for the tag. One thing I’ve loved about being on this Design Team is seeing how all of the other ladies get so creative with their details so I’m trying to push myself to take more time and more to my projects. The Holly | Red Sequins were a fun way to add detail and bring in some more red to this page while also tying in the watercolor splatters in the background.

I created a die cut tag that would fit in the vellum pocket and kept it simple since the vellum is transparent and I didn’t want it to become too busy. I added some detail to the tag with a 3D embossing folder and some gold Perfect Pearls. A second tag was adhered to the backside so I’d have a smooth place to add my prayer journaling.

As always, I finished the page by highlighting the verse, Psalm 98:1, and also added some gold stamping detail with the Holly | Stamp Set.

“Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has performed wonders; His right hand and holy arm have won Him victory.” Psalm 98:1

Until next time!
