Bible Journaling with the Megan Kit | Mandy MelvilleMay 29, 2019
Mandy here today, and I want to share with you how I've been using the Megan collection to create some beautiful bible journaling entries. I received my first journaling bible as a gift for Mother's Day earlier this month, so this is the first time that I've brought together my love of scripture and scrapbooking into one place! I was so excited to get started and I knew that the gorgeous Megan collection would be absolutely perfect for creating my first two entries in my new bible!
We're currently working through the book of John in my Bible study group, and so I thought that that would be a good place to start with my Bible journaling, and I chose to focus on John 13:34-35. The verse talks about loving one another, and so I used that as the inspiration for my title. I love to combine different alphabets to create fun and interesting titles on my projects, and this is exactly what I did on this Bible entry. I started by using the Lindsey metal die set to cut the word love out of one the 6x6 papers from the Megan collection. I also used the thicker die to cut the word again from white cardstock, and then I adhered the thinner word on top. Next I added the word 'one' using the Jaimee puffy alphabet stickers, and I finished the title off with the word 'another', using the Lola mini puffy alphabet stickers. See how fun it is to mix different fonts and alphabet stickers to create a title?
I couldn't resist using the gorgeous vellum butterflies from the Megan collection on this page. They are so pretty, and I love how bright and vibrant they look when you adhere them onto a white background! I added three of the butterflies to the page to create a visual triangle.
At the top of the page I added a strip of the Amber washi tape, and then I added one of the designer cardstock tabs from the Jaimee kit on top of the washi tape strip. I stamped the word 'love' onto the tab using a stamp from the Lindsey kit, which just gives me a quick reference to remind me what this entry is about.
I finished the entry off by adding another strip of the Amber washi tape across the bottom of the page, adding the date using my FJ roller date stamp, and lastly I added a scattering of tiny black hearts from the Lola heart confetti. These are perfect if you want the look of black ink splatters, but you're nervous about adding them to a finished page.
For my next entry, I wanted to focus on a verse that is important to me as a mother... Proverbs 22:6. I really wanted to add a photo to this page and seeing as the margins in this Bible are quite wide, I had plenty of room to do this. I chose a photo of me with my three kids that was taken on Mother's Day, and I journaled about some of my desires and prayers that I have for my kids.
I started this entry off by adding some paint and texture paste to the background. I made sure to choose colours that I knew would work perfectly with the Megan collection. I also added a couple of strips of the Essentials tiny dot washi tape to the background, but this mostly gets covered up by the photo.
Next I added some layers behind my photo using three journaling cards, and a die cut label from the Jaimee collection. This particular Bible is coil bound, allowing for plenty of room to expand, which is perfect for me as I love to add lots of layers and dimension!
I embellished this entry with some of the beautiful butterflies from the Megan die cut shapes pack. I also stamped a few tiny black butterflies onto white paper using the Megan stamp set, and then fussy cut them to add to my page.
For the title on this entry, I combined the Megan alphabet stickers with the Essentials mint puffy alphas, and the Lola mini alphabet stickers. Once again, I love the look of the mixed font title!
To finish the entry off, I added a label from the Megan die cut shapes pack at the top of the page, and I stamped the date onto it using my FJ roller date stamp. I also adhered a Hannah tulle bow to a paperclip and attached that to the top of the page to mark my entry. Lastly I added a sprinkling of Sarah epoxy dots to the page.
Thanks so much for joining me here today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my first Bible journaling entries, using the lovely Megan kit. I'll be back next month with some more projects to share with you!
