Hi FJ friends,
Ulli here with you today and I have a new pocket page for you. I made a birthday spread with photos from our 4 years old daughter on her birthday morning in June. I used the gorgeous and colorful Lola Kit and I love how it turned out.
First I looked through all the pretty journaling cards of the Lola Kit and put four of them in my PL protector. Then I put my photos in the pockets and I had some of them to spare. So I decided to make a 6x4 pocket with a flap and to glue a small photo above one of my pockets/pictures.
For my PL card with the flap I used white cardstock and I cut a card in the size 6x8 inch with my paper trimmer. I clinched it in the middle at 4 inch to have a 6x4 inch sized card then. I put only the bottom of this card in the pocket. With this technique it´s possible to clap the card up and to work with more photos. It´s perfect if you don’t have enough space on your PL protector.
Then I cut a photo a little bit smaller and glued it on the journaling card with the diagonal striped frame. For the photo on the left side on the bottom I cut out the oval shape from the journaling card and glued my photo behind it. With this technique you can frame your pictures very easy and your PL spreads look very professional and interesting.
To give this card the final touch I glued „LOL“ with the cute Lola Mini Puffy Alphabet on it. These cute little letters are so perfect to use them in your Pocket Pages. The size is perfect to use them as little titles on your PL cards.
Then I decorated my 6x4 inch photo with the birthday candles with two tags. I stamped and glued the words „Today I am 4“ on them. Therefor I used the Lola Stamp Set, the Lola Mini Puffy Alphabet and the Lola Chipboard Alphabet. I framed a small photo with the heart frame from the Lola kit and glued it with glue dots and the wonderful Lola Die Cut flower on the pocket. I love it to decorate my pockets above to give my PL spreads a playful look and a little bit more dimension.
I decorated the PL card with the polka dot hearts with the cute Lola Fringe Trim in pink and I glued a stripe of white cardstock beneath it. With this cardstock the hearts don’t shine through the trim. Then I sewed the trim on the card. I used white cardstock and the lovely Hooray! stamp set to make my own Die Cut. I stamped the phrase on the white cardstock and cut it out. Then I glued it with foam dots on the card and decorate it with a pinkish Epoxy Dot Heart from the previous Kate Kit.
On the central card from my spread I only glued one of these super cute Chipboard Shapes from the Lola Kit. Sometimes is less more. Don´t you think!? The card with the diagonal stripes I only decorate with a little acetate bow from the Zoey kit and my stapler.
The card with the flap was a little bit time-consuming than the others but it was worth it. I glued a photo from our daughter and her new bike on the card and fixed a arrow from the Zoey Acetate Shapes with my stapler on it. Then I glued the title „Happy Birthday Lina“ with 3 different Alphabet stickers (Lola Kit and Essential Puffy Alphabet Sticker in Aqua) and a Chipboard Shape on the picture. I used the mint 6x6 paper with the scalloped border and cut a 4x6 paper. Then I glued it on top of the card. I used a circle punch to change my photo from a rectangular shape to a circle shape and glued it on this card too. On the part below I glued another photo. Then I used the Hooray Stamps, the Brooke Puffy Shapes, the Brie Chipboard Circles, the Lola Die Cut heart and one black essential mini clip to embellish this card.
To finish off my pocket spread I used some of the Henley Epoxy Dots, some Lola heart sequins and another chipboard circle with a pink heart on it. At least I stamped the date with the Felicity Jane roller date stamp on the PL card with the flap.
I hope you like my birthday pocket page and I could inspire you to use the pretty Lola journaling cards to make wonderful pocket pages. I am sure you´ll love them.
Have fun! Until the next time, Ulli
