"Birthday Boy" Layout | Jana Bennett

Hello FJ fans,

Are you also enjoying the new Gabby kit and all the lovely colours? They are perfectly bold which led me towards a boyish layout. I often hear that FJ kits are more girly but I think you definitely can use them for your boy projects too.

I went for a black and white photo that I had of our son taken last year during his birthday. I always try to make a big spread to remember the big day. I knew straightaway that I was going to use black and white pattern paper. I decided to use the paper with lines. When thinking about the best composition I saw the journaling cards and got inspired by the colourful stripes.

I decided I would avoid the pink stripes and I cut the other ones from the stripey pattern paper. I did a bit of weaving but you can barely see it under the photo. To back up the picture I used one of the journaling cards and a few die cuts.

Whenever I make anything with a birthday theme I always go in my stash for the August kits. And Tori is just perfect to match with Gabby. There are lots of colours that work together so well. I used the jumbo die cut alphabet and numbers and birthday stamps.

I love FJ alphabets! And the Gabby font and size is just perfect for any of your projects! The teal colour goes nicely with the rest of the kit. I really like the detail … the alphabet seems to be black but when you study the details, it has this beautiful colour.

I still have many photos from this birthday and I can´t wait to show you more projects with Gabby. Have a lovely week everyone!
