Birthday Exploding Album | Jana Bennett

Hello FJ friends,

How is your summer so far? Do you get some time crafting? August is FJ's birthday month (yay!) and the Jenny collection is just so festive! I love every single bit but my most favourite aspect will most definitely be the phrase stickers! They have such brilliant texture and I can see myself putting them everywhere!

Today's post is probably going to my longest post ever. Since the collection's theme is birthday and my eldest daughter's birthday is coming up (well, in few months but it is always good to be prepared, right?) I have decided to make a gift box. With pictures. With LOTS of pictures! The birthday girl wishes for a pair of earrings so the box itself will come in really handy.

I got inspired for this project by my friend who made a brilliant exploding album box for her daughters. I have always wanted to make one so this was a great opportunity.

I decorated the box as the last step and the ribbon was my biggest nightmare. I even had to google a tutorial (shame on me, I know)! To add some colour I used the cute chipboard heart. And when you lift the lid the album pops out (I can't get enough of this effect with exploding boxes).

I was thinking for a while of what to use in the middle. I wanted something 3D so I used the beautiful Jenny die cut shape and adhered it on two square bits glued together. The best news: it fits into the box! Hip hip hooray!

For the actual album box I used three different sizes of the templates. They are all glued together in the middle of the box. It was so easy to choose what paper I am going to use since it all coordinates so nicely. Pure joy to work with FJ collections. You just have fun creating, the "matching" job has been done for you by the designer!

I am going to show you a few of the finer details. I wanted to film a video as well but since I craft mainly in the evenings (small kids) it wouldn't look nice. If the circumstainces allow I will try to add it later.

In the album there are some interactive elements. I love using leporelos.

Sometimes I just used a photo and decorated it. These puffy words are my favourite. You don't need to add anything else and the wow effect is there.

Here is a little envelope with lots of little pictures in it. They are on a string so hopefully there will be no more losing little bits in an album.

Waterfall. Such a popular effect! I used to make cards with it but these are fun for albums as well.

This interactive element hides a big photo. If I had more time I could definitely use more fun things here. I also left a few parts blank to add more pictures later (as I said at the beginning, there is still a little bit of time until the birthday).

Shaker window. I believe it is always a good idea to use a stand-out shaker in your mini album. I love them. This one is made of vellum and those beautiful sequins that are in the kit. Such original shapes!

More vellum to create a soft effect.

And here is another leporelo for tons of pictures. I love it how easily you can simply add another paper for more fun and photos.

So there you go. One gift off the birthday wishlist. Thank you so much for reading all this and being here with me today. Have a great week and I can't wait to see what you create with beautiful Jenny!
