Hey there Felicity fans, Nancy here today with a mixed layout and the Kate kit. And by mixed I mean a scrapbook layout and a companion pocket page with lots of photos. Celebrations are perfect picture taking opportunities. They are important milestones and I like to include detail shots from the day. The combination of a layout with a favorite photo is complimented with pockets of smaller photos that tell the whole story. The Felicity Jane kits and journaling cards make it easy to combine the two.
Let's take a closer look at the layout. I started with the idea of stringing the tiny tags along the center of the design and worked out from there. This adds a touch of whimsy and detail to the page. I also used part of the string to ground my birthday title.
These tiny details are my favorite part of designing layouts. The string was glued into place with a clear adhesive and puffy dots from the Kate kit were used to anchor the ends.
A 2" circle punch was used with the coordinating cardstock included in the kit to create these fun circles. They add a big punch of bold design and are embellished with a bit of stamping and a puffy star. I scattered three throughout the page to add movement. The big number 4 also adds weight to this cluster which finishes off the design.
Let's move along to the right side where our pocket and photos are displayed. I placed six photos randomly in the pockets, using both 3x4 and 2x2 sizes depending on the quality of the photo. The solution for bad lighting or slight blur is a smaller photo size. That way I can still include it in my story and the imperfections aren't as noticeable. Easy fix!
The embellishing on the cards was kept to a bare minimum. This is for two reasons - one, I want to keep it simple and have already spent quite a bit of time on the main layout and two, I don't want to distract from the photos. They are my shining star. I repeated the half circle shape and colors on the right with a bit of stamping and a few sequins. That's all that you need!
Felicity Jane (and the Zoey kit) are the perfect solution to your piles of celebration photos. Tell your story, keep it simple and have fun creating!
