Birthday Mini Album | Jana Bennett
Hello FJ fans,
I hope you are all having lots of fun with the beautiful Bailey kit. I have to admit. I am not an "all hearts" kind of girl but this kit is just stunning. And those felt hearts are so cute!
I decided to use this material to document our scrap friend's secret birthday party. We had such a good time and this soft collection goes perfectly with all our photos. I made a leporelo mini album and I am really happy how it all turned out.
Let me tell you first how I made the construction. I knew I was going to make a leporelo and there are many albums like this. You can even make one from one piece of 12x12 paper! But I didn't want to add layers and layers of papers so I thought it would be more practical to attach the individual pages of the album onto a wide white ribbon. Ok, I am not sure about practical now but it definitely looks really good. And it was easy to make. The benefit of using the ribbon is that you can keep adding pages how you want to. I am not sure if you can see it from the photos but I always glued two pages together with the ribbon in the middle.
As for the cover I used some die cut shapes from the older kits. The frame has vellum inside and a handwritten title. I also couldn't resist using the beautiful ribbon.
Since there already is one ribbon, I decided to hold the mini album together by a classic rubber band. It was actually good for my heart beads that are just so cute and I am really surprised I still have them all (my older daughter keeps going to my desk quite a lot).
I punched two holes in the back cover to lead the rubber band through.
And here I tried to take a picture of the whole album.
Let's have a look inside. For the first time I included in my mini album some textile material - silk organza and I love how it looks! I went for a shaker pocket and used all the little pretty sequins.
The next detail is a bit interactive as well. I can't get enough of different flip pages and hidden photos.
When it opens ...
... and when you flip the vellum over. Tadaaa, this is us!
The birthday theme was really good for using some bits from the Jenny kit. Do you remember all the great birthday sentiments and stamps from the August kit? This kit is always my go to when I am documenting some birthdays.
I also included an envelope for spare photos and a vellum pocket for some archive pictures. The golden word is from Denise kit and it is embossed.
You can see a flip-through in the video below...
I can't wait to give this album to my friend and also see what YOU create with the gorgeous Bailey kit. It seriously is a one off!
Jana
