Birthday Mini | Ulrike Dold

Hi FJ friends,

Ulli here with you today with a fun project with the wonderful new Jenny collection. This collection is so awesome and I am so in love with all the cute candy colors and the birthday theme. I decided to make a birthday mini with it. Normally I only put the birthdays of my children in mini books, but this time I thought I could document my own birthday and also some thoughts and things that happened in February 2019. I don’t have so many photos from me at my special day and so I decided to put much more journaling in my mini this time.

I´ve made this mini with yellow book binder linen and some chipboard from photo packaging. I cut two pieces of 5 x 4 inch and one in 1 x 4 inch for the spine. To cover the front and the back of my book I cut down the adorable „Bunting“ paper in 6 x 5 inch (2 times) and used my folding tool and adhesive tape. The book binding linen I´ve used is 2 inch wide. To add a cute eye catcher on the top I used the Henley Mini Pom Trim and stichted it with my sewing machine on the left side of the front cover.

I covered the inside with the Streamers paper and therefore I cut it down to 3.75 x 4.75 inch. For the pages I used the following papers: „Floral & Heart“, „Grid & Lines“ and „Streamers & Type“. I cut three pieces (one with each paper) in 8.75 x 3.75 inch. Then I fold all of them at 3.75 and 4 Inch. So the pages have a short and a big side and the variety of the pages make the mini book more interesting. I punched a big circle in one of these pages (floral paper). I also made a shaker pocket with the packaging from the Chipboard stars and the birthday confetti, the Jenny sequins, two of the chipboard stars and some black FJ confetti stars. I stitched this shaker pocket with my sewing machine on the top of the striped page.

Then I glued all three pages on a piece of paper with the size 1 x 3.75 inch. I put a whole in the spine and added a pink eyelet there. Then I’ve used the cute Jenny Sequins, Joy tassels, two pearls and one of these super cute chipboard stars and threaded them on some white twine. I attached this tassel in the inside of my mini with adhesive. Then I glued the piece of paper with the pages over it into the inside of the mini book.

I had so much fun to fill my mini book with photos and some thoughts of me. Don’t forget to document your own story too!

I printed out my journaling on white paper and some vellum to make the mini more interesting. I used the Jenny Metal Die Set and the Jenny Stamps to decorate my pages.

I also made some flowers with the stamps, ink in the Jenny color palette and the Jenny Metal Die Set. Its so easy and the flowers are super cute. I added them on some pages and used 3 D dots to add some dimension. The Jenny Cardstock Fringe is also perfect to set some cute eye catchers at your projects.

I glued a photo with the same size under the shaker pocket with sequins and the birthday confetti and decorated it with a tab, a word sticker and a heart puffy sticker from the Megan collection. On the other side I added a little paper pocket. I’ve made it with a Zoey journaling card and a little circle punch. I glued it on the page - of course only on the borders - and put a self-made tag from the mint Jenny solid paper into it. Tags are perfect to add a hidden journaling in your mini books or layouts.

I added some Jenny Die Cuts here and there too. They are so adorable!

On the Streamer and Type page I added a piece of vellum. I used an embossing folder to add a special touch before and glued it inside my mini. Then I added many of these adorable Jenny Sequins on it and placed a photo under it.

For my last page I fussy cut the pink speech bubble from the Jenny Journaling card and glued some vellum with my journaling on it. I added a self made Jenny flower, made with the Stamp and Metal Die Set, and the cute numbers from the Jenny Die Cut Shapes to decorate the speech bubble. On the other side I added one of these super cute Jenny Puffy Stickers under my photo.

At the end I decorated my cover with the Jenny Die Cut Shapes, the Jenny Puffy Alphabet numbers and some little Epoxy Dots and a Mini Heart Puffy Sticker from the Zoey collection.
