Hey!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent mine working on a new layout using my "Sophie" kit and a Felicity Jane cut-file, and I can't wait to share it with you.
Here is a look at my finished layout:
There are a few techniques that I love every time I do them. Layering a bunch of strips behind a photo is one of them.
Here is a look at those layers before I put my photo on top of them. I used the washi tape that came in the kit, a scallop from the cut apart embellishment sheet, a few patterned paper strips, and I even got some packaging thrown in there. I absolutely love all the dimension, and to emphasize that even more I curled up the edges of any strip that was stuck down!
I searched the Silhouette store for a Felicity Jane cut-file to use as my title. I quickly found several that I could use, but I settled on this one that said "blessings". To add even more dimension to the title, I actually cut out several of these words and then glued them together.
You can see that dimension at little better from this angle.
My original plan for my journaling was to actually type it up and cut it into strips. Even though I don't think you can tell from the photo, I noticed a black smudge on the bottom of my layout. I knew it would't be that easy to start this layout over, so I had to figure out a way to cover it up. My solution was to place a tag that I could journal on over the smudge. Worked perfectly.
I used the phrase stamp the said "the little things" from the kits stamp set as a journaling prompt. I quickly wrote down how much I love baking with my daughter and how fun it is to watch those tiny little hands of hers measure and poor all the ingredients.
As a finishing touch I added a few of the silicone hearts to my page. Hearts were the perfect embellishments to use with this story, plus I think it balanced out the bottom of my layout.
(You may have noticed that my picture has changed a couple of times. The reason... as I worked on my layout I realized I had a different photo & story that would work better with my page. It was easy enough to switch out my photo, so I did!)
Super happy with the way this layout turned out. Partly because I love this story, but mostly because the "Sophie" kit was gorgeous. I am a little sad that I have almost used it all up! Luckily I have another Felicity Jane kit on its way to my house, and I know it will be just as awesome as the "Sophie" kit was.
