Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! I love the changing seasons so I thought it would be fun to mix and match a little fall from the Taylor Collection and a little winter from the Coco Collection (and Holly) to create a prayer layout in my faith binder. Be sure to check out the process video at the end of this post to get some more tips and tricks for this project.
I had a photo of my backyard when we got about two seconds of snow a couple of weeks ago that I matted with some patterned papers that played off the colors of the photo and the buffalo plaid just seemed like a good fit when talking about winter-like weather. I was reluctant to commit to using those beautiful Coco floral die cuts but the colors went perfect with this photo (and I can always purchase another set of die cuts LOL).
There were some word stickers from the Holly collection that easily described my thoughts about this photo so I added those to one of the new gold labels and embellished with an epoxy heart sticker.
One thing I struggle with when using FJ products is that I love so many of the pieces and want to save them for just the perfect project or cluster. One way for me to tackle that is to work in a grid format. This allows me to basically work in 4 (or however many you want) little focal points and I can use up some of my favorites.
This is also a great way to use the journaling cards if you aren’t a pocket scrapbooker. I used one journaling card for my prayer journaling and the other as a sort of title for the layout.
In this quadrant, I brought over that buffalo plaid from my photo page with a scallop die cut piece. A simple word that went with the feeling of the day paired with a gold heart (to bring some gold over from the gold label that I used), finishes off this corner.
Tags can work in a similar way as journaling cards when working in a grid format like this. I embellished this one with some epoxy stickers, a bow made from embroidery thread, and then added some color to the tag with the Rust Dot washi tape.
That’s it for this prayer layout in my faith binder! As documenters, we have so many different ways that we can get down our memories and thoughts. I love photography, I love pretty paper products, and I like to keep my hands busy when I’m praying so this way of journaling just works for me. Don’t ever feel like you need an excuse or a set way to sit down and use the things that bring you joy.
These kits might be sold out but you can still grab the products that I used today in this project so maybe put together your own little documenting kit and get to playing!
