Bugly | Banning Lane

A few weeks ago I was here on the blog talking about how I was inspired to scrap some older stories and get some older photos into my albums. Today I am sharing another older story.

Here is a look at my layout.

I think the thing that inspired this layout the most was all the heart embellishments that came in the kit. As soon as I saw the patterned papers with those super cute hearts on it, I immediately thought of this photo of me with my bug!! I loved this car so much, and I was seriously so sad when we decided to sell it. I don't know that I will ever scrapbook any other car that I get, but this car was special!

I started out my arranging some of my bigger pieces in a square. I'll be the first to admit that I get stuck in design ruts, and right now it is grid style layouts on an 8 1/2 by 11 canvas. I just can't help it!

I was originally going to use a white tag from my kit to journal on, but I decide it just didn't look right. I ended up using it as a template to make a new one out of the lighter orange paper that came in the kit. I think it turned out so much better and made me wonder why I don't make my own tags more often!

After I had my basic design taken care of, I moved on to embellishing. I used several of the little heart charms, plus a couple wood veneer hearts from my stash to create a little cluster to the left of my journaling. To add even more girly cuteness, I layered a doily behind my homemade tag! Love the way this ended up looking!

I wanted to bring some of the embellishments to the top of my layout so I added another cluster to the patterned paper square. I used another doily plus another little heart charm to create a cohesive feel.

I knew I wanted to add a title, but I struggled with the placement of it. I moved it from the top of my layout, to the bottom of my layout about a thousand times. I finally decided it looked best below my journaling. By the way, how stinkin cute are those wooden alphas!! LOVE them!!
