Capture Layout - Mixing Kits + Process Video | Sheree Forcier

Hi Everyone!

One of the things I absolutely love about Felicity Jane kits (besides all the gorgeousness we get to play with each month) is that the kits coordinate so beautifully together. It’s so easy to mix and match elements and really helps to get the most out of each kit! The layout I’m sharing today features the lovely Brooke kit with bits and pieces from six other kits mixed in too.

I started my page design by cutting a circle out of the middle of some white cardstock, then traced that circle onto a second white piece of cardstock that would become the backing to my page. The traced circle allowed me to add strips of patterned papers from the Brooke, Alexis and Henley Kits together ensuring that I covered the entire area of the circle that would be visible. Once the strips were stuck down I added some machine stitching. I also stitched a messy border of stitching around the outside of the white cardstock circle then adhered it into place on top of my patterned paper background.

Next was the fun part…adding the photo and embellishments!  I was excited to use the gorgeous crepe ruffle trim from the kit this month. Even though the trim already had a line of stitching across the middle I added a few more rows to adhere it into place. I love the texture this trim adds to the layout!

I tucked the photo in behind the trim and used foam tape to add dimension. I also added a paper clip, yellow floral die cut from the Zoey Kit and a black and white striped button from the Autumn Kit.

A Zoey tiny tag, a Heidi tiny tassel and Caroline silicone heart charm were threaded onto some twine which was looped around the button. I love how this element dangles down the page!

I used the ‘capture’ die cut from the Alexis Kit for the title along with a transparent ‘good times’ piece from the Zoey Kit. Since the transparent acetate piece was adhered with foam tape, I also backed it with white cardstock so the words would appear nice and bright.

Finally, I added a row of stamped hearts to the bottom right of the circle, and the phrase ‘’you and me’’ to the top left of the photo. These were from the Love Note Stamp Set.

You can see my process in the video below.

I hope I’ve inspired you to dig out your older kits and mix them in with the new!  Have fun with your scrapping and I’ll see you again soon!
