Card Making with the Denise Kit | Mandy Melville

Hey FJ friends!

Mandy here with you today to share my first project using the gorgeous Denise collection! As you know, this week on the blog, the creative team have been sharing projects focusing on stamping. I absolutely love the beautiful stamp sets that come in our FJ kits each month, and one of my favourite ways to use the stamps is on cards. With quite a few birthdays coming up in the next month, it was the perfect time for me to create some cards to give to family and friends on their special day.

The first card I made is for my eldest daughter Abigail, who is turning 15 next month. I wanted to make this one super pretty and girly! I started by layering together a couple of the Denise patterned papers on the front of the card. I used the light blue plaid at the top of the card, and the pink floral at the bottom. I also tucked a piece of the yellow scallop branding strip in between the two patterned papers. Some machine stitching around the edge of the card gave it some nice texture and detail.

Next I fussy cut one of the gorgeous flowers out of the floral patterned paper, and I adhered it to the card using foam tape for added dimension. I really love how it looks! To finish the card off, I stamped the word 'daughter' in the bottom right corner using a stamp from the Denise stamp set.

The second card will be for my best friend whose birthday is also in July. I couldn't resist using that floral patterned paper again, and this time I used it to cover the front of the card.

I trimmed down the journaling card from the kit that has the word 'friend' on it, and added some machine stitching around the edge of it, before adhering it with foam tape to the centre of the card. Above the word friend, I stamped 'beautiful' using a stamp from the Jill stamp set. I love the combination of the script and block fonts together. Underneath the sentiment, I added a puffy scallop border that I had leftover from my Willow kit. To finish the card off I also added a couple of tiny puffy hearts that are included with the Denise puffy alphabet stickers.

The final card is for my niece who turns two this month. I started this one off by covering the front of the card with the diamonds patterned paper. Next I matted the light pink journaling card from the kit  with the blue plaid patterned paper, and I adhered it to the centre of the card. In the top right hand corner of the card I stamped 'happy birthday' using the 'Hooray' stamp set. This is one of my most used stamp sets as its perfect for making birthday cards. Underneath the stamped sentiment I added a scallop strip which I fussy cut.

In the bottom left hand corner of the card I layered together a few of the floral die cuts from the kit. I then tucked a little yellow banner that I hand-cut out of one of the solid color papers, under the right hand side of the flowers. To finish the cluster off I added a wood veneer '2' that I had left over from a previous FJ Christmas kit.
