Cherry Blossom Layout | Ulrike Dold

Cherry Blossom Layout | Ulrike Dold

Hi everybody,

It´s Ulli here with you with our Friday Favorites at the Felicity Jane blog today! I always love embellishments, but also the patterned papers are very important in my projects. The Bailey Paper Pack is full of wonderful patterned papers in pastel colors and in the typically black and white patterns by Felicity Jane and this paper pack is one of my favorite items of this wonderful collection. So I focused this time on the beautiful Bailey papers and this is the layout I’ve made. A spring layout with paper rays and many paper flowers.

Layouts with rays are always a great idea when you want to show all the different papers of a scrapbooking collection on one page. I decided to make a 12x12 layout and I used the amazing Essentials white cardstock as my background.

First I cut 8 rays from different Bailey patterned papers. I don't always measure them. I decide where I want to place a special paper and cut it as long as I like the piece of paper from the size. I always cut the papers not too big to have a little bit white space between the rays. This time I cut them so that the two-third on the top of my layout was covered with the rays. I mixed the colored papers with some black and white patterns and I used the following papers for it: Grid & Love, Dotty & Stripes, Hearts & Plaid, Floral & Hearts, Stripes & Flowers.

Then I glued them on my white page and stitched with my sewing machine two times around every paper ray. Therefore I’ve used white thread. I distressed the paper borders with my fingers and I really like the effect of it.

Then I moved my picture on my page and glued it a little bit inclined on the lower part of the paper rays. I used 3 D dots and added them only on the border on the left and the right side and on the bottom because I wanted to add hidden journaling with a journaling card later. So it's possible to put a card behind the picture. Because of the cherry blossoms and my focusing on the FJ Bailey paper pack I decided to use a flower metal die and I punched from three different pink solid papers of the Bailey kit many little flowers. These three different pink tints are amazing and they look amazing together. The pink tints are so perfect to make some cherry blossoms for yourself.

Creating your own embellishments is so easy and they always look very special! I glued always two flowers with the same tint together and added a third with another pink tint on the top. To get a wonderful 3 D effect it's good if you bend the petals up a little bit. For some eye catchers in the middle I added the Puffy Asterisks from the wonderful Bailey Puffy Alphabet, the Bailey Epoxy Hearts, the Brooke Mini Puffy Shapes and the Hannah Epoxy Dots on the flowers - of course also in pink. Then I glued them from the left edge of my layout to the right edge and I clustered them a little bit more on and around my picture. I added my title with the super pretty Bailey Puffy Alphabet in soft pink on and under the photo.

I put one of these adorable mini wide paper clips in pink on my picture and cut the chipboard wreath of the Bailey Chipboard Stickers in two pieces. I glued them under the left and the right border of my picture. I wrote my journaling by hand on the cute "Details" Journaling Card and put it behind my picture.

I splattered some black ink across the page and added two of the Bailey Die Cut Shapes and a cute bow made with the wonderful Essentials Cotton Ribbon in peach on my picture. I added the season and the year when the picture was taken with the cute Madison Mini Puffy Alphabet in black on the first ray on the left side and added here and there some little hearts with the adorable Bailey Stamp Set.
