Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! It’s that time of year again...time to start prepping for those December documenting projects! Last year I didn’t do any prep work and I ended up not finishing my album so this year I’ll be spending this month getting some elements and pages put together ahead of time so that I’ll hopefully be more successful with a daily project like this one.
Since I had some left over bits from the past couple of Felicity Jane Christmas collections, I decided to pair them with the beautiful new Coco Collection to create some large tags that I could later journal on or add a photo to the back.
For my first tag, I started by cutting two different sized tag shapes from some patterned papers (the largest is 4.5” x 8”) and gathered together the Coco stamp, a Noel Chipboard Flair, some pom pom trim, and the black ribbon that had tied the package together for shipping (how awesome that even the packaging from FJ can be used to create with).
I sandwiched a smaller piece of the black ribbon between the two tags before adhering everything together, that way it would look as if the final bow is tied around the floral paper. I used some gold thread to stitch on the pom pom trim and also added some stitched detail around the edge of the smaller tag.
Before adding on the last bits of embellishment I wanted to add a little more detail to the “Christmas” flair piece. I stamped “merry” from the Coco stamp set by masking off the “merry & bright” stamp and then gold heat embossed the star stamp.
I created a bow from the rest of the black packaging ribbon and used hot glue to attach that along with the chipboard piece to the rest of the tag. I stuck the entire tag onto one of the acetate pop-ins so that it could easily be inserted into my 6-ring album without having to cut into the tag itself. I plan on creating my journaling or photo onto another large tag to adhere to the back once I’m ready to document that day in my December album.
For the second tag I wanted to play around with a little mixed media since we have that super fun star stencil in the Coco Collection this year! The base of the tag was created just the same as the first one using a couple different patterned papers and then was embellished with some gold stars, a Noel die cut shape, and some gold puffy stickers from the Noel Collection.
I mixed a bit of black acrylic paint with some texture paste before running that through part of the star stencil. Once that was dry, I added in some of the gold stars and gold puffy stickers for a super textured background.
I felt like the tree needed to be grounded on the tag so I brought in some washi tape, a bit of trimmings from last year, and even a bit of scallop from some of the packaging.
I love how these tags turned out and how easy they are to just tuck into my album with the help of the acetate pop-ins! Do you like to pre-create pages and things for your December album or do you prefer to create as you go?
The Coco Collection starts shipping 11/6, so be sure to head on over to the Felicity Jane shop and grab some of the beautiful holiday goodies before they sell out!
