Hey there crafty pals! Today I’m back on the blog with a 6x12 scrapbook layout I created using the Henley kit, along with embellishments from past collections!
Mixing collections not only makes my products stretch further, but it allows me to get a different look on each of my projects. This layout has a fun whimsical feeling to it, simply because of the color palette I used and the embellishments I chose.
6 x 12 layouts are some of my favorites to create. For this one, I chose two patterned papers to layer behind my photo, then did a little watercoloring before adhering it to the page. I created small blobs of watercolor where I knew my photo would be placed, making sure a little of each blob would peek out from behind the photo.
Then, I used part of a journal card to add the “Today” sentiment on the side of my photo. I knew I needed a little something on that left side of the layout to make it feel balanced, and that card was perfect!
Once all my layers were in place, I added a simple title using a thin alpha set. I love that the black is bold enough to stand out, but thin enough to not take the focus away from the rest of the layout. This thin title also keeps the page from feeling too crowded - which can easily happen on a layout this size!
From there, it was just a matter of adding clusters of embellishments around the layout. I’m usually a small cluster kind of gal, but with this layout, I was having so much fun creating big clusters that really stand out!
This layout is definitely a step out of my normal style, but I really love the way it turned out! Next time you’re ready to try something new and jump out of your comfort zone, try using a new color palette or mixing kits!
I’ll be back next month for more crafty inspiration! Until then, I’ll be chatting with y’all over on Instagram - be sure to use the #felicityjane hashtag so we can see your gorgeous projects!!
