December 2018 Album Cover & Set-up | Ulrike Dold

Ulli here with you today with the first look inside of my wonderful Holly Buffalo Plaid December album. I love this album so much! The leatherette material is so super soft and the quality of this album is so awesome! For me 6x8 inch is the perfect size. I need more space and I love it to mix pocket pages with normal paper pages. I also use a TN insert this year again for my December notes. Therefore I decorate the cover of the Black & White Floral TN insert with a white circle, the Holly stamp set and some FJ Puffy alphabet stickers.

I’m so exciting to share my first pages with you now and a part of my set-up too.

This year I decide not to use red in my album. It was a tough decision, but as a pink-lover and a non-traditional-Christmas-color fan it is the way the album matches perfectly to me and our Christmas decoration at home. I love the FJ Holly collection so much, but as you know there is also red included. Today I want to show you how you can use this wonderful Christmas collection without the color red. 

Because of that I want to show you a little part of my December album set-up - some embellishments and alphabet stickers. I sorted all parts of the Holly Kit out or glued some enamel dots and sequins over the red parts. Instead of red I add hot pink, turquoise and mint to my color palette and I love the result. Therefor I searched in my previous FJ collections and find from the Alexis, Lola, Henley, Zoey, Brooke, Reagan, Hannah kits bits & pieces. I also use my left-over from last years Joy Christmas Kit - mostly in black and white.

I use pink sequins instead of the red ones from the Holly collection and all my papers are the Holly papers and also a mix of other previous FJ kits in my color scheme. I have the Joy and the Oh Deer Stamp Sets in my display and all the cute FJ mini clips, wooden peaces and other beautiful and perfect FJ embellishments.

What are your favorite Christmas colors? Are you also a lover of candy colors and not the traditional ones? One of the most important things for me in a December album is the cover page. And I had a blast to made mine this year and I hope you like it. 

I used the Falala Acetate page from last year’s Joy kit and cut from white cardstock a page with the size of the Holly Cardstock Dividers in 7x8 1/4 inch. I set the holes with my planner punch board. Then I cut out a wreath and a bow with the FJ Holiday Wreath Cut File and my Silhouette Cameo. Therefor I used the green-grey solid paper from the Holly kit and a paper rest from a pink solid paper, also from a previous FJ kit. Then I glued some enamel dots and sequins in pink, turquoise and mint on it and splattered gold paint across this page. For the bottom I used a gold foil scalloped washi tape from my stash. I glued the die cut shape „December" on the acetate page and stitched with my sewing machine over it. Then I glued with the gorgeous Holly Foam Glitter Alphabet "2018“ under it.

I also hang two tassels on the gold rings inside of my album to have a beautiful eye catcher there. One of them I made myself with the super cute little Holly bells in gold and silver, two feathers, a black and white striped button from the Autumn Kit and a gold wooden bead.

My 2nd page is a page with one of those wonderful Vellum Faux Pockets. I wanted to write a little journaling as a little initiation. This text is about my family and I wrote some words about last years Christmas time and what have changed to this year. Three days before New Year’s Eve we moved in our new house and now we celebrate Christmas the first time here. I cut a 2nd page from white cardstock and punched the holes into it. It has the size 4x8 1/4 inch. 

I glued a paper stripe from the Holly Stars paper on the left side and stamped some stars on it. Then I added the journaling on a Heidi Story Tag. This tag has the perfect size for the striped Vellum Pocket from the Holly Kit. I glued a white Dollie behind it and decorated it with the Wonderfull Holly Die Cut Shapes and some enamel dots and sequins. The fir cone has also red parts and after I´ve embellished it you can not see it anymore. For my title I used the cute black Holly Mini Puffy Alphabet Stickers and the Foam Glitter Stickers. To finish this part I used one of those cute little wooden houses and glued it against this pocket.

I embossed the bottom from the slim paper on the right side of this double page with a polka dot embossing folder. I glued a stripe of the cute Holly Washi tape with the green trees over it. Then I added many of the wonderful white and gold snowflake sequins on the top of this page. I added a photo strip from us on this page from November 2018 and embellished it with the pink Lola Fringe Trim, a gingham die cut tab and the Holly „Family“ word sticker. I used a turquoise acetate circle from my stash and added the mini heart clip in gold and some of the Holly die cut stars on it. Now December can come!
