Hi everyone!
I love December! It really is my favourite time of year and I thoroughly enjoy documenting the holiday season. As soon as I saw the new Christmas themed Felicity Jane Print & Cut files I couldn’t wait to play with them! The images are so adorable and the colours are so fun!
I opened up the Santa & Gifts, Holiday Sweets, Doodle Ornaments and Doodle Holly & Pine files in the Silhouette program, experimented with the sizing then print and cut them on my machine.
It was quick and easy and they cut beautifully! Soon I had a fun little pile of die cuts on my desk ready to go.
As I was pulling the die cuts from my sticky mat and placing them on the table, I just happened to be arranging them into a kind of tree shape, which gave me the idea to create a 6 x 8 inch filler page for my 2016 December album! I may have finished my 2017 album but my 2016 project still needs a lot of work and the colours worked quite well with the photos I had chosen to work with.
I used plain white cardstock for the background, added a strip of gingham Amber Kit paper across the bottom, stitched a white border to add a little texture, then set about creating the design. I thought the stack of three gifts would be perfect for the trunk of the tree and the star cookie should go on top, then I filled in the rest. All the pieces were added to the page with foam squares for dimension.
The phrase underneath the tree was a stamp from the Holly Stamp Set, embossed in gold to add a little festive shine to the page.
Next I created some filler and journaling cards to go with the photos on the other side of the spread. For Day 8 I had a photo of a cute take away coffee cup so I thought I’d create a filler card to go next to it using the coffee cup die cut from the Holiday Sweets file. I stamped another phrase from the Holly Stamp set to go underneath then adhered both pieces to a plain white card with foam dots. This card also has a stitched border.
Day 9 in this spread was my son Riley’s very last day of primary school. I typed up the journaling using my computer, added some striped washi across the top, then stamped another phrase from the Holly Stamp set to layer over the washi. The number stickers on the photos are from the gold Essentials Puffy Alphabet.
You can see my process in the video below…
Have you had a chance to play with the new Print & Cut files yet? They are so perfect for December documenting, your planner or you could even make some cute Christmas Cards!
I hope I’ve given you some ideas on how you can use these fun new files. I’ll see you again soon with another festive project!
