Hello FJ Friends!
How is your December documenting going? Each December I like to create a page or spread about our advent calendars and, since there are five of us, I like to do this on Day 5 of my album.
This year I decided on a double page spread using tags and a mix of the Coco Kit, Noel Kit and Taylor Kit goodies.
For my background pages I cut some white cardstock to 7 x 8.25 inches (the same measurements as the outside of the page protectors in the 6 x 8 albums). I’ve been wanting to play with the cute star stencil that was included in the Coco Kit so I grabbed my texture paste and added the stars across the middle of both pages, then added some white glitter on top before waiting for them to dry.
Once the stars were dry, I punched the six holes down the side of both pages and stitched around the outside edge of each with my sewing machine.
I chose four paper from the Coco Paper Pack and the floral journaling card from the kit and cut them into tag shapes approximately 2 x 3 inches in size. I also used Photoshop to create 2 x 3 inch boxes and typed up some journaling before printing onto white cardstock. The journaling was also cut into tag shapes and I stitched around all 10 tags with my sewing machine.
On the front of each patterned tag I added a piece of gold glitter vinyl from my stash at the top and a vellum circle roughly in the middle. I hand stitched around each vellum circle using embroidery thread, added our initials to each circle using the beautiful Taylor Chipboard Alphabet Stickers and finished each one with a gold star sequin. I punched a hole at the top of each tag and added some white twine.
So that each tag front could easily flip up, I scored a line across the top of each tag underneath the twine hole. This gave a nice neat fold line. A photo of each calendar can be seen when you flip up each tag.
I used some of the cute little stamps from the Coco stamp set above the text on each journaling tag, then adhered the top edge of each patterned paper tag to the very top of each journaling tag. Each tag was then adhered into place across the two page spread at different heights. I stapled the twine of each tag to the top of the pages.
I punched a hole in the top of my chipboard number and added some twine so that I could hang it from the top of the page just like the tags. I grabbed a tiny tag from the Noel kit, typed the words ‘advent calendars’ onto some scrap white cardstock and adhered the words onto the tiny tag. I then threaded the tag and a tiny tassel onto some more white twine before hanging them from the top of the chipboard number. I made sure the twine was long enough for the little tag and tassel to hang down below.
You can see all the details in my process video below...
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing how I’ve put this spread together! I’m so happy to have this story in my album to look back on.
If I’ve inspired you to make something similar we’d love to see it! Be sure to share it with us on our Facebook page or tag us with #felicityjane on Instagram so we can see your work!
I look forward to sharing another project with you soon!
