"Easter 2021" Layout | Lydia Cost

Hello there, fabulous friends! Wherever you are in the world, I certainly hope that the weather has been as wonderful as it has been here. It has been inspiring me so much creatively, and this layout was one of the fun ones. I was certainly looking forward to memory keeping these Easter photos, and I couldn’t think of any better products than FJ ones.

Even though my photos had a bunch of blue in them, the pretty green grass in the backgrounds made for the perfect backdrop to blend in with the Mari collection and my stash. It’s no secret that I love Mondays at FJ, because it’s all about mixing and matching all of the goodies in my stash! I knew that I could draw in as many lovely FJ colors as I wanted to create this fun layout.

For this layout I chose two papers, that I stitched together along the edges, to create this clean, solid area in the middle. I knew I wanted to leave the middle with a solid paper, so that my grid design would really be able to shine atop. I ran the papers through my sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch; I always love the way it adds a whimsical flair to attach two different papers together.

Next, I went about measuring out the area in the middle to prepare it for my photos and patterned paper grid. I chose 4 photos from Easter, that I just loved. To get an idea of the space they would allow, I backed each one with a pretty piece of FJ paper. I then arranged them next to each other in a vertical grid pattern. Now, I was able to measure out the remainder of the space, so that I could add in some patterned papers.

Once I chose my patterned paper grid pieces, I ran each one through my sewing machine around the edges. I then fluffed up the edges for added dimension. Next, I popped up my photos with foam squares, so they would really be highlighted in my grid. This was the main foundation of my layout, and I was now ready to add in a bunch of embellishments and bits from my FJ stash.

I added in some fussy-cut florals, jumbo number die-cuts, fringe, and alphas to really highlight each of my sections within the grid design. This is one of my favorite parts about FJ products; they pair so perfectly together. It’s so easy to mix and match all your little embellishments to really draw on any color scheme you’d like to work with.

I finished up by adding in some journaling to a piece of striped patterned paper and a title on my floral patterned paper. I love the way each of the elements really draw your eye in and make you want to stay a while. That is one of favorite things about this creative life we live.
