Hey there friends! It’s Kathleen here back with you and today I have another layout to share. For this page I mostly used the gorgeous Jeana kit, but I also mixed in some pieces from older Felicity Jane kits because they just fit perfectly.
As soon as I opened the Jeana kit and saw the “home“ theme that it revolves around and that luscious green color in some of the papers and embellishments, I knew I wanted to use it to scrap some photos of my plant babies at home ;)
This layout was actually a bit of a leftover kind of page. The patterned paper pieces I used on this layout were scraps I had left over from previous projects, the title was cut out of white cardstock quite a while ago and just sat there between all of my papers, and the flowers I have tucked around and behind my paper/photo cluster were left over from this layout here, for which I had fussy cut all the flowers from the Floral & Tufted paper in the Jeana paper pack.
So all in all it came together rather quickly, since I just started layering things onto each other and just seeing how I can make these leftover pieces work.
In order to balance out all of the color in the photo and the papers and embellishments, I decided to bring in this super cute black and white striped journaling card with the white heart in the middle. It’s my favorite card from the whole pack!
This also pulls from the black in my photo and the patterned paper strip at the bottom of the page. However, I still needed more places where I would add some pops of black, so the star sequins I had left from an older Felicity Jane kit (I think it was the Felicity kit) and the “good times“ acetate piece (I think it’s from Felicity, too) came in very handy for that!
I also made sure to repeat the yellow, so that now you can find it in the patterned paper on the bottom, the flowers around my photo cluster and the puffy heart sticker on my photo. For the green I added another sticker from the puffy stickers sheet and a green label from the die cuts set so that I now have that color in three different elements, too.
While this certainly isn’t a rule that you have to obey, it definitely helps to repeat certain colors and/or elements in threes to create some kind of cohesion and flow.
Finally, I added some gold mist splatters, a bit of machine stitching and my journaling to my layout and then also added a little bit of stamping. Since I wanted my title to read “Everyday Magic“ but couldn’t find the right alpha stickers to spell the “everyday“ part, I ended up using the “everyday moments“ stamp from the Essentials Mini Stamp Set 1 and just masked the “moments“ part before inking it up.
I am very happy with how this layout turned out, especially since I was able to use up some leftovers and that always feels good, doesn’t it? Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed seeing this layout!
Have a great day!
xo, Kathleen
