Flower Love Layout | Anne Keller

Hey everyone,

I'm so in love with the new Megan kit. The colors are totally my style and the embellishments are gorgeous. So I couldn't wait to create with all the beautiful bits and pieces. For my first layout I used an older photo of my daughter. It's interesting to see her on the picture enjoying the flowers and knowing that she now at age 6 loves flowers and the garden.

Because I wanted to highlight all the beautiful colors of Megan I used a b/w photo. I decided for a sketch design I often use for my layouts. It's a design that always works. Just a paper strip and then everything else on it. You can vary it with border punches, rip one side, use a different number of photos... I created my usual layering staple. For my photo/paper staple I added a folded paper and inserted it between different layers. I ripped it a little bit so you can see both patterns.

Oh, the little puffy heart circles. I think they're my favorite item of this kit. I used them on every focus point (with some bitty puffy hearts of Brooke) and I'm sure I need another package. They're so versatile. For some more interest: A ripped and folded edge is always a great detail. You can also use some washi to add a third pattern under the paper...

I created a big cluster at the top of the paper strip. I started with the title and these alphas - I love the handwriting look. Instead of the word 'flower' I used a vellum flower. I added some of the tiny tags, I just glued it over the flower. Some little butterflies and another puffy sticker and it's done.

The layout is nearly finished. I added the big vellum butterfly on the photo. Then I recognized I need a third focus point. I stapled down a label on the top of my cardstock, stamped a date onto it and decorated everything with butterflies and puffy sticker. After that the finishing touch: some black splatters and some white heat embossed butterflies. It's all in the little details. You don't have to do complicated things to create a beautiful project.

While I created the layout I was so happy to see the progress of my daughter, her love to flowers then and now.

Using old photos for a new layout is such a great way to discover 'memory treasures'. Maybe I inspired you to create a layout with old photos. I'd love to see your projects so make sure you tag them with #felicityjane.

Have a great weekend, Anne.
