Today I have a quick and easy gift card wallet idea to share with you all. As we get closer to Christmas, I’m starting to think about which gifts to buy for family members, plus I also have a few birthdays to think about between now and December. Some of these gifts will be gift cards so I wanted to come up with a simple gift card wallet design that I can easily customize to suit the occasion and the person I was giving it to.
I chose papers and embellishments from the Tori and Coco Kits so that I could create one birthday themed wallet and one Christmas themed.
I cut my paper to 6 inches tall and 8 inches wide. I then scored my paper down the middle, and across the paper 1.5 inches from the bottom.
I stitched across the bottom edge of the paper. Then, to create the pockets on the inside of the wallet, the bottom was then folded up and I added a strip of adhesive down the sides and down the centre fold of the pockets before stitching around the outside edge and down the centre. This secured the pockets in place while also adding some lovely texture.
To decorate the front of the birthday themed wallet, I cut a 4 inch strip of the striped paper from the Tori Kit, stitched across it then layered it onto the front with a Taylor Kit scalloped die cut piece. I stamped “it’s your special day” onto a strip of white cardstock using the Tori Stamp Set, then adhered it to a yellow label. I positioned the label to the top right of the striped strip, then added a beautiful floral die cut with foam dots. I used the Jenny Kit alphabet stickers to add “celebrate you” above the flower and label.
I threaded a tiny Tori die cut tag and a Joy tassel onto a piece of twine and secured it behind the flower so that it was hanging off the side of the wallet for a little something extra.
To add a ribbon closure, I punched a whole right through the wallet on the right side using a slot punch, then threaded my ribbon through and tied a bow. (You could also use a normal hole punch for this too.)
For inside the wallet I layered a “hooray” journaling card with a piece of pink patterned paper, paper-clipped them together, then tucked in a die cut ticket and flower. The gift card will sit in front.
Inside the pocket on the right is another journaling card where I can write a message to the recipient.
For the Christmas themed wallet, I used the pink snow paper from the Coco Kit. To decorate the front of this one I used the adorable Coco girl die cut…so pretty! I stamped “ho ho ho” onto a scrap piece of white cardstock then stitched it onto a gold foil label before adding it next to the girl. I used the Taylor alphabet stickers to add the words “for you” then finished off with three gold foil stars. The pretty gingham ribbon is from the Coco Kit trims bag.
Inside this wallet on the left is the red journaling card with a holly die cut adhered to the top. The gift card is positioned in front of this.
On the right side is a card for me to write a message to the recipient. I stamped “merry & bright” onto white cardstock, adhered it to another piece of white cardstock, added stitching then adhered it to the centre of the red striped journaling card before finishing it off with a gold star.
These were so easy to put together! I think I’ll be making a few more so that I have them ready to go when I need them.
