Grateful Layout | Leigh Ann Odynski

Thank you for joining us on this week of gratefulness at Felicity Jane. The title on this double page layout says "grateful is the best place to be" and the left hand side of the layout is from the first page of my creative non-fiction book. I am in the process of finding a publisher for it, but aren't all of us writing our own story in our scrapbooks? I find the more I scrapbook, the more I realize the story underneath the photo, and each and every one of us has a story that deserves to be told. We are all unique, and each of us has a story only we can tell. So I am an advocate for women, telling and sharing their stories. Let's encourage one another!

A photo of my grandmother, holding the umbrella over my sister as they walk in the rain, was the impetus for this story, book, and layout. Do you have a photo that tugs at your heart and brings tears to your eyes? What story does the photo tell? I love the harvest gold and coral-rust colors in the November kit, because they speak an underlying message about the scene, set in the 70's.

The kit stamp this month has some great versatile sentiments, and that leaf and shadow stamp are my favorite!

A close up shows the layers, and the scored and folded 3x3 squares resemble umbrellas on the page. The embellishment clusters have a variety of embellishments, and I love that we get so many different types of embellishments in each FJ kit.

I stamped the shadow leaf stamp in two colors of pigment ink, mustard and coral. The rubber charm that says family is layered on top of the stamping to create interest.

The kit stamp sentiments are perfect for combining. I used two in different colors to highlight the "grateful" stamp. I printed my journaling first, then stamped the title.

Here is a process video if you would like to see how this layout came together. Thank you and happy storytelling!

Leigh
