“Grateful“ Mini Album in an Envelope | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey there :) It’s Kathleen here and today I have a project for you that I made for this week’s theme of gratefulness. When I thought about a way to record the things I am (especially) grateful for right now, I knew a layout wouldn’t really work because there were a lot of different things and I wanted to include photos for them all.

So I decided to make a mini album and thought an accordion style mini book would be cool. But I also wanted to have a way to store it and keep the pages folded together, so I came up with the idea to put it in its own envelope.

For the mini album’s basic structure, I cut two strips of one of the patterned papers from the Autumn kit, folded them in an accordion style and then glued them together. To secure the accordion album in my envelope that I made with my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board, I cut out a piece of paper from the solid colored cardstock in the same size as the mini albums pages and used this to glue down the accordion on the inside of my envelope.

I also used this piece of solid cardstock to write down my ideas/intentions for this mini album with my typewriter. The things I am most grateful for (right now and in general), are my husband + our dog, my family, our home, flowers, our travels and the everyday moments like my morning coffee.

Sometimes I added the journaling on one of the journaling cards from the kit, again using my typewriter to keep a consistent look, and for some other photos I used tuck in-spots to add some hidden journaling.

(I haven’t added my journaling on this card yet because my typewriter went on a strike)

When you open the envelope and pull down the accordion, you will at first see the pages you can see in the photos above. However, when you pull the accordion upwards, the backside will be revealed and show more photos and journaling of things I’m grateful about.

On the last two pages of the backside I included two pockets: one to add some hidden journaling (the one with the coffee cup photo) and the other to add more photos because for the travel page, I just couldn’t narrow it down any more ;)

For embellishing my pages, I used bits and pieces from the Autumn kit, but also from past kits (like the white foam sticker border and the golden label from the Mila kit, for example). I love how all of the Felicity Jane kits are so versatile and how they always work really well with each other.

I’m really really happy with how this mini album turned out and that I now have all of the things I’m most grateful about in one place :) The only thing I’d do differently if I made an album like this again, is that I’d make the envelope a bit bigger, since the pages can get a bit bulky and therefore make it difficult to keep the envelope closed. But a chunky mini album makes my heart really happy, so it’s alright :D

I hope you liked this project and maybe feel inspired to document the things you are most grateful about right now, as well!

See you soon,

Kathleen
