He Learned How To Be Silly | Banning Lane

Happy Friday friends!

Today I am going to share a pretty simple, but super cute layout I created this week. The end result didn't come easy, but it was fun getting there. I'll show you what I am talking about in a minute, but first lets look at my finished layout

I am so loving the colors and patterns that are in the Caroline kit, but what is new right.

So as you can see I decided to do a 6x12 layout. This is a size that I don't do very often, but I always love the way it turns out. I think it would be so fun to fill an entire album with 6x12 layouts. I just need to find the album.

So remember how I said that this simple layout didn't come easy. The reason I say that is because I had two other designs that I thought about using before I settled on my final design.

Let me show you what I am talking about.

The first idea that I came up with was to use several of the label die cut pieces placed down one side of my layout. I imagined either stamping little sentiments on those labels, or writing in some journaling. I was totally in love with this idea, but I decided to keep playing.

The second approach was a bit more... well busy. I took out all the die cut shapes and just started piecing them together on my layout. This was a super fun look and I probably left this layout just like this on my desk for a whole day. In the end I decided to try one more look

My third try was the winning look. It actually started with the yellow strip of paper. It was just a scrap sitting on my desk, but I loved the way it looked sitting below my photo. Especially once I added the group of flowers to it.

I originally planned on adding my journaling below my photo, but I decided to add a title to my page. Seriously how cute are those polka dot alphabets paired with the Caroline kit!! After I added the title I decided I liked the look of the layout just as it was, so I wrote my journaling on the tag that I had sticking out of the top of my layout.

As a finishing touch I added the oh so very cute bow on top of my little flower cluster. I just love the way all those elements look together. I also think I could use a few more of those absolutely adorable bows.

The story of this layout is about how my calm, and loving hubby has learned how to be silly thanks to help of our funny little five year old. I love that I was able to use the sweet Caroline kit to tell this even sweeter story.

Before I go I wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day. We are joining in on the fun here at Felicity Jane and have all sorts of fun planned over on the Felicity Jane Facebook group. We will be hosting an on-line crop complete with some fun challenges and great prizes. We would love to have you stop by and say hi and maybe even win something fantastic!!

Hope you all have a fun and crafty weekend.
