Happy 2017!!! Gotta love the fresh start a new year brings, right? Maybe it's just me, but I love to begin new projects on January 1st. And what better way to start the year than to break into the new Sophie kit and make a scrapbook layout, right? (Although, I'll be the first to admit that I had a great deal of time actually cutting into the papers because my natural instinct is to hoard anything that's on this level of gorgeousness.) ;)
I wanted to make this layout dimensional, so after cutting down the {adorable scalloped paper}, I used the leftover pieces to create a layered look. I simply cut out some of the scallops and popped them up on dimensional stickers to raise them higher than the rest.
I had originally wanted to make a pocket page layout in order to add some sequins into the mix- because in my mind, New Year's always calls for sequins! ;) But I changed my mind when the idea came to me to just put the sequins in a plastic bag. I just mixed them in with a journaling card from the kit and then glued it down to the page.
I like to keep track of our "currently's" so in later years (or even at the end of the year), we can look back on what we were watching or listening to on repeat. ;) I decided to use the stamp that says "the little things" on the journaling card before writing down all of our current loves.
Whether I like it or not, my daughter changes drastically within 365 days, so every year on January 1st, I like to take some quick portraits of all of us. I felt like the space between our photos needed a little something extra, so I used the heart shaped rubber charms to fill in the gaps. :)
Then I got some toothpicks from my kitchen and used them with the pennant banners from the sticker sheet. I glued them down, but afterwards I got out the washi strips and added pieces of tape just for fun! (I like "busy" layouts... can you tell? Haha!)
Finally, I cut out the word "hello" from the sticker sheet and used the puffy stickers to write "2017" next to it.
And that, my friends, is it! Happy Crafting & Happy New Year! XOXO
