Hey Dad Layout | Ulrike Dold

Hi everyone,

Ulli here with you today with a Dad themed layout using the super pretty Brooke Kit.

When I held the papers from the Brooke Kit the first time in my hands I had the idea to fussy cut the pretty flowers from the Flower + Rainbow paper. They look like a flower meadow and I love the checked pattern on the border. So I fussy cut the flowers first and glued the flower meadow with its border on the bottom of my 12x12 cardstock. I didn't glue the top of the flowers so I could tuck my photo behind it later. I used a picture of me and my dad for this page. It was taken on my wedding day in June 2013 and it's him congratulating me after the wedding ceremony. I love how he looks at me in this moment and this photo means so much to me.

The back of the flower paper with the soft rainbow look matches perfectly to our wedding colors and so I decided to use it for this layout too. I used a wide paper strip and glued it with the color gradient from pink to yellow on the top of my layout. Then I splattered some gold and black paint across the page.

For my journaling I used a story tag from the Heidi kit. I printed the journaling out and glued it on the tag. I used modeling paste and a polka dot stencil for the background of my photo, then I decorated my photo with the cute acetate tab from the Zoey Kit, the Brooke crepe ruffle trim in white, and white tulle. I used my stapler to adhere it. I glued my photo behind some flowers and stuck the journaling tag behind it. I tied some black bakers twine on the tag and made a bow.

I added one of the amazing velvet bows from the Reagan Kit on the lower border and glued a pink puffy heart from the Brooke kit on it. I also used the cute bitty puffy stickers to put accents on the flowers.

For the title I made a shaker pocket. I used the bag from the Felicity Jane journaling cards for it and filled it with sequins from the Joy Kit, some star and flower sequins, some brushed gold sequins from the Henley Kit, two Brie Chipboard Flairs and an acetate bow from the Zoey Kit. My sewing machine is broken at the moment, so I used my stapler to close the bag. Because of that I glued a paper strip above to cover the staples. I glued the title "Hey Dad" with the pink puffy alphabet from the Brooke Kit on the paper and on the pocket and added a cute little die cut arrow from the Heidi kit among it.

To finish off my page I used the Henley stamp set and stamped some hearts and the words, "More of this" on my page. In the end I added the mini heart clip in gold on my photo.

Maybe I've inspired you with some ideas using the Brooke Kit and some left overs from previous kits. See you later this month again here on the Felicity Jane inspiration page!
