I Miss This | Banning Lane

Hi Friends, It's Dannielle here again with you today with another layout I created using the new "Willow" kit.

The last layout I shared on the blog told the story of how much I loved getting bouquets of flowers picked by my little girl. I had mentioned in my  journaling that I knew that one day I would miss getting those tokens of love that only she could give. That got me thinking.. what are some of the things that my little London used to do, that she doesn't do anymore. I looked through some old pictures, and quickly stumbled upon the perfect story to tell.

Here is a look at my layout.

so here is the story behind my layout. When my little girl used to take naps during the day, she would always wake up and want to cuddle for just a bit. These were the best cuddles because she was still a tiny bit tired and extra willing to just sit there in my arms. I always knew that this phase wouldn't last forever, and I totally soaked up those cuddles every chance I got them.

My first step, like I already mentioned, was finding my photo. I had more than plenty to choose from, but I choose this one because she still looked a little sleepy, and had that adorable grin on her face. I cropped most of myself out, mostly because it was absolutely not a flattering shot of me, but I love that the focus is on her, and you just see touches of me.

I used my silhouette to cut out a scalloped frame for my picture. I don't think I will ever get tired of scalloped anything. I made a choice to add some stitching to my photo, which is something I don't do too often, but I like it.

You can also see that I added some embellishments, but those really didn't come until later.

I decided to hand write my journaling on a simple white tag from my stash, and then layered the small black polka paper behind that. Just like I will always love a scalloped edge, I will also love a polka print. One of my favorite things from the kit this month is the flower die cut shapes. I clustered a few of them together to make a bouquet, and really do love the way they look placed at the end of my journaling.

I adore the alphabets that came in the Willow kit, and I knew I wanted to have a title on this page just so I could use them. I'll admit that I am totally unimaginative when it comes to a title, but I totally accept that about myself. This is the perfect title for this page though.

To finish off my layout I used some of the wood grain patterned paper that I can't help but use on every page as a border. I still felt something was missing, so I took my pen and added some messy lines to the edge of my page. After that last detail, I called my layout done!

We would love to see what you are creating with this months Willow kit. don't for get to use the #fjwillow when posting your projects on social media!
