Hello friends! Today I am sharing a 12x12 layout using the Jane kit, thanks for being here!
As most of you know, Felicity Jane kits tend to be very feminine and pretty - which is what drew me to the kits initially. There is no doubt they are always insanely gorgeous - but I have 2 boys and I need these kits to also work with more masculine subjects. Let's check out how I did that!
Since my photo was black and white I really could choose any colors without having to match the photo. So I decided on a light pattern for the background. I then chose the embellishments with neutral and darker tones. The wood shapes, black cardstock shapes and grey sold paper were perfect! I also added in sprinkles of mint to add a touch of color.
Once the colors and embellishments were chosen, I used a branding strip of the mint floral on top of the layout and a larger strip of the wood grain paper on the bottom for some balance. Then I began layering and stamping.
I punched a tab from the solid grey paper and layered it with the striped mint one from the cut apart sheet. To pull more mint to the center, I cut a rectangle piece from the mint stripe patterned paper to use as part of the grid structure I built.
So to bring it all together I added a striped flair and some black stars and it definitely feels like a layout about a teenage boy.
Thank you so much for hanging out today and I hope you've been inspired to create layouts by just using a color or two - and making it work for you!
Until next time, happy scrapping!
Andrea
