Look For The Good | Lindsey Lanning

Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey!

Today I’m back creating in my A5 notebook which is where I like to document some of the less formal moments...like my weight loss journey, personal accomplishments, or just my thoughts on a moment that I want to remember like today’s entry. You can find the process video for my layout at the end of this post to see more details on how this project came together.

I pulled out this photo that I took while kayaking and, when I looked at the date, I realized that this was taken on the last “normal” day that we had before the world came to a stand still for the pandemic. I picked my boys up from their last day of school before Spring Break and we headed out for a day on the lake. Things were already getting a little crazy so we made the decision to hunker down at home before the official stay at home order. I wanted to journal a little more about my feelings than I typically do so I decided to create a hidden pocket to house all my journaling.

I cut down a piece of Essentials Grid Paper into a long tag shape and ran it through my typewriter (I don’t fuss over typos or words not fitting).

For the pocket, I layered a couple pieces of patterned papers from the Hope Collection (I just had to get a giant swatch of that beautiful floral paper onto the page!) and punched a notch out of the top. I added adhesive to the two sides and bottom before adhering to the layout to create a pocket for my journaling tag.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum and used some more patterned paper and one of the journaling cards to layer behind my photo.

I love the journaling card with this phrase but I wanted something a bit more bold for this side of the layout so I decided to stamp out the phrase using the new Typewriter Alphabet stamps. I used the paper samples from the paper pack to die cut out the word “hope” to add some more color and patterns to this side of the layout. That scallop piece from the die cuts was the perfect size to fit under the paper letters!

I decided to embrace the white space and keep this layout very simple. How are you documenting through this current season? I hope to look back on these journaled words and remember the sweet moments that we experienced during what is otherwise a very crazy time.

The Hope Kit is sold out but you can still grab individual pieces from the shop. So grab some goodies and get those feelings and thoughts documented!

Until next time!
