Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I’m this month’s guest designer. A little about me: I’m adventurous (but not outdoorsy) I’m a recovering perfectionist, and I’m afraid of anything with wings (which absolutely includes ladybugs and butterflies.) I also have a little girl and husband who I adore and are my scrapbooking inspiration.
I’ll admit I was nervous when I was asked to be a guest designer because I’ve been in a scrapbooking slump. And by slump, I mean I haven’t scrapbooked in months. Yes, I said months.
When I need to get my creative juices flowing I again, I turn to my silhouette and a large cut file to serve as the feature of my layout. Felicity Jane has so many beautiful cut files to choose from, and the love cut file immediately grabbed my attention. That was all the inspiration I needed to get started.
I knew I wanted to feature a lot of the colors and patterns in the kit and to focus on some of the bolder colors. Despite my fear of winged-things, the birds from the cut apart sheet were perfect for an outdoorsy photo.
Another go-to for me is journaling strips typed on my vintage typewriter. I used the love title as a jumping off point for the rest of my journaling, starting each sentence with the statement “I love…” and some details about the photo and the special relationship between my husband and daughter.
A few enamel dots from a previous kit finished off the little details and tied each of the clusters together.
With my tried and true techniques, the layout came together rather quickly, especially for having been in a slump. More importantly, I’m happy to add this layout to my album.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to stop by again on Saturday for my second project using the "Jane" kit.
