Love you | Laureen Wagener
Hi friends -
I am really happy to be back on the blog today to share my first project with the beautiful "Sophie" kit! It is absolutely devine - the colors are perfection and don't even get me started on the beautiful florals.
For my first project I decided to create a paper pieced eye-catcher. I have a "to-do" list for all my creative projects that I would like to create in the future and I had this typewriter on there forever.
When it came to creating I knew that it would be difficult to hand-cut the typewriter all by hand, so I searched the Silhouette Store and found an Echo Park typewriter cut file that worked perfectly.
I cut it out of different papers from the Sophie kit using the yellow, navy and one of the white papers. After my Silhouette did all the cutting I simply adhered everything and placed it onto the light pink paper with the yellow backside.
I always like to include a slight border around my paper pieced images and cut around my typewriter. The final touches for a paper pieced image is the stitching for added texture and even more details.
I used a small needle, pierced holes all around my design and used black thread to stitch it. Because my typewriter had many small details I didn't want to use a thick strand of thread and simply used three small strands by taking them out of the large one.
For my title I decided to place it on the piece of paper that is stuck inside the typewriter. To match with the rest of the layout and my color scheme I wrote the words "love you" in pencil and stitched it afterwards.
After my typewriter was done, I created a vellum shaker pocket in the middle of my page - I stitched the vellum and filled it with lots of punched out paper hearts.
This gives a lovely detail and yet even more texture by adding the vellum and filling the space behind with paper.
My last step was the embellishing around my typewriter and photo. The florals in the kit are the most beautiful and pretty easy to cut out. I sat down with my scissors, an episode of Gossip Girl and fuzzy cut all the florals out of the sheet of paper - so you better be prepared for a layout coming on the 31st with a whole bunch of floraly goodness.
I also used the floral cluster from the Cut apart sheet, used them and tucked the other florals in and called it done. I am so in love with how this layout came together and turned out!
Thank you so much for checking in with me today!
Have a great day,
Laureen
