Lovely Lattice Layout│ Lydia Cost

Hello there, crafty friends! Lydia here again today, with a 12x12 layout all about my obsession for pie baking during the fall. I made my first pie of the season, and it had lots of lovely lattice, so I found it only fitting to copy that aesthetic to my scrapbook page.

I began the layout by trimming the multicolor striped paper in the Rebekah kit, using my paper trimmer. I then cut each of those pieces in half, so I had slender pieces of patterned paper to create my lattice with. Just as I did with that delicious pie crust, I wove my pieces of paper in and out.

I chose to stagger my lattice pieces off the edge at many different lengths; I did begin with the full 12” pieces, and I later trimmed them to fit my 12x12 layout. I thought the staggering haphazardly made for a more whimsical look, that draws the eye in.

I positioned my finished lattice onto my white cardstock, and with the help of a little bit of double-sided tape and my sewing machine, it found its home on the top right section of my layout. I chose to leave the staggered edges free, so that it added more dimension. It also added more detail to the lattice work that I loved.

After backing my photo with some more lovely patterned paper, I tucked some messy packaging behind for more dimension. I then slid in one of the amazing vellum pockets, that come in the Rebekah kit this month. This made the perfect home for some hidden journaling behind my photo.

All that was left was to add my title and some embellishments. The Gold Puffy Title Stickers didn’t have the word “lovely;” however, by combining the “love” and the end of the “family” sentiments, I was able to seamlessly merge the pieces to make my word. “Lattice” was created using the amazing Puffy Alphas in this month’s kit.

I hope you guys were inspired to incorporate some lattice in your crafty projects this month, or to remember you can always emulate something from your photo onto your scrapbook layouts for inspiration!
