Lovely Layout & a Sketch | Kathleen Graumüller

Lovely Layout & a Sketch | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey there, it’s Kathleen here and today I have something fun for you: a sketch challenge and even a process video!

I don’t know about you, but I love working with sketches. You can interpret them as literally or freely as you like and I think they are a great starting point, especially when you feel kinda low or uninspired.

Although, full disclosure: for this blogpost I created my layout first and then drew the sketch from my finished project. But now at least you have the opportunity of getting to work with a sketch ;)

So obviously, because I created the sketch after I had finished my layout, they look very much alike. But then again, I love a grid design, so even if I had had the sketch before, I probably would have stuck to it quite closely.

For the four parts of my grid design I used three paper layer clusters and one shaker element. I knew that I definitely wanted to use the brushed gold sequins that are included in the Henley kit and because I just can’t resist a shaker pocket, I decided to make one as one element in my grid design.

I always love to make use of the packaging wherever I can, and the plastic that the journaling cards come in is perfect for shaker pockets because it’s already closed on three sides so you can fill it with your sequins and other little things and then just close it. You don’t even need a sewing machine or any fancy tool for that ;)

And speaking of using packaging: I also filled my shaker pocket with some of the white crinkled paper that the Felicity Jane kits (and the wood veneer pieces this month) are wrapped in. This adds some more texture and dimension to my page without adding any more colour or pattern.

I mostly used the beautiful Henley kit for this layout, but also mixed in some pieces from the Alexis kit (the light teals and pinks coordinate perfectly with the Henley kit!) and some older kits, too.

That’s it from me for today - I hope you enjoyed the process video and like the sketch and maybe give it a try, too. I would definitely love to see what you create, so please leave a comment below with a link to where I can see your project :)

And to give you some more inspiration, the lovely and super talented Ulli interpreted the sketch and this is what she created:

And Anne created this amazing layout:

I hope you’ll play along too! Can’t wit to see what you create!!
