Hi there, FJ friends! Shannon here with a 12x12 layout to share. This format is not my norm but every now and then I get the urge to scrap in this size - and then I wonder why I don't do it more often! For this layout, I chose three Felicity Jane kits that mixed and matched well. Of course, I had to break into the newest kit, Emily. As soon as I saw Emily, I immediately thought of Capri and Julia so I pulled those products from my stash. I love the way they all work together!
I really like a lot of white space on my layouts. And I really like a lot of layering! I made sure to design my layout to incorporate both of these looks. I started in the center of my page and then built up the layers from there. In an effort to make everything feel grounded and not just floating in the middle of the page, I added a sprinkling of epoxy dots above and below my main cluster. This still allows for plenty of white space, but also gives the page a finished look.
To add a bit of dimension, I decided to curl my patterned paper. This is something that's new to me but I've always liked the look. I used a pencil and just loosely wrapped the edges of my paper around that. I'm not sure how this would look with straight-edge paper strips, but it worked well with the banner-cut edge!
Finally, I had a lot of fun mixing and matching the embellishments from all three kits. To mix and match, I first looked for kits with a similar look. The florals in the Emily kit reminded me of the florals in the Julia kit. And the colors in the Emily kit made me think of the light pink in the Capri kit. I just love that the kits can all mix and match so well. It really helps me use my stash!
I hope this has inspired you to grab some of your kits to mix and match for your next layout!
xoxo,
Shannon
